I recently chose The Wroxeter Hotel for our Golden Wedding Celebrations. The hotel was fantastic.
The setting was superb. I have nothing but praise for the staff who were very efficient in every aspect of the organisation for the celebration.
I booked 9 rooms at the hotel and all my guests were completely satisfied with their rooms and the breakfast was lovely with lots of choices.
A great day in a great hotel. Thanks for making our day special.
Would recommend this hotel for any special occasion.

Room Tip: rooms on first floor overlooking the alpacas and chickens. great views

Arrived at the hotel amongst beautiful grounds which kept lamas and chickens also lots of roman statues. We were shown to our superior room which was lovely with a four poster bed which wasn't very comfortable but the room was very clean and very spacious. Staff were amazing especially James always friendly, smiling and very polite and helpful. Booked an afternoon tea which was disappointing 1 sandwich and shop bought cakes and glass wine but as we got all this on a groupon I'm not complaining but definitely would not be happy paying £18 for it,Had an eve meal at the hotel 3 courses and a bottle of rose aprox £60 so good value and enjoyed the meal, breakfast both mornings was fantastic and you got cereal and yogurt and choice cooked breakfast which was outstanding. We paid £99 for 2 nights plus aft tea plus 2 x breakfast so that was a bargain. Would recommend staying here also only 20 minute drive iron bridge and shrewsbury

Room Tip: Room 22 superior room very spacious but bed uncomfortable.

We had the three course Sunday lunch menu, I had the smoked Salmon starter it was delicious just a little too much mayo but very good, I then had the Roast beef it was excellent cut nice and thick very tasty, Yorkshire pudding excellent and the jus was outstanding, roast potatoes had been cooked previous and warmed up but plenty of fresh veg and new potatoes, I followed this with a slice of lemon custard tart with clotted cream and raspberry was again excellent, first visit very impressed will definitely go again very soon

We arrived at 11:30 for a wedding at 12:30. The wedding had exclusive use of the hotel and yet our room, and the rooms of multiple other guests, weren't ready. I asked if there was somewhere I could go to feed my 6 week old baby as our room wasn't ready and was told by the receptionist to feed her in the disabled toilet. Needless to say, I didn't. Following the ceremony & wedding breakfast we finally got the key to our room. Two single beds pushed together - not even with a king sized mattress on top, just two singles - not a mattress protector in sight. Scratchy, worn, bobbly bedding and what appeared to be small smears of blood on the wall in the horrifically designed adapted bathroom and no one at reception to complain to. All capped off by a sleepless night thanks to paper thin walls & ceiling & the the clankiest plumbing I've ever heard. The shower the next morning was positively menopausal with its hot flushes and chills and the only saving grace was the breakfast. Luckily, we were one of the very few guests who's bill was correct. Never, ever again.

We went to the wroxeter hotel, with a groupon voucher, two nights with breakfast and included the 16 course roman banquet.
We arrived early evening, our room was nice and clean and warm, very nice view from the window.
Bathroom nice and clean too.
We visited the bar before dining, had to ring bell for service, but they were pleasant when they arrived, nice selection of beers.
We went into the restuarant for dinner, again good selection of dishes and good tasty portions too.
The first night there was bit noisey, there were a lot of contractors using the hotel, and they were up early as we heard and the adjoining room left very noisily at 4.30 in the morning.
Next morning we asked at reception if we could move room, the very nice lady on reception said she wasn't sure but would find out whilst we had a lovely breakfast, the full monty and loads of tea and toast too, after which the lady came back to us with the key to # 23 and said we could have a look at the room and if we liked it we could move into there, we looked, liked what we saw and moved there striaght away.
As we were about to go out exploring in the rain, we spoke again to the lady on reception she gave us some local tips and then very kindly gave us an umbrella too, as we had forgotton ours.
That evening we had our roman banquet, complete with red and white wine, the food just kept coming all very nice and tasty.
Overall a very nice and pleasant stay with great staff and good hotel.

Room Tip: try and avoid # 6 as it has an adjoining door, which you can hear people in the other room and it is...

The rural setting of this hotel is well placed to visit the Roman City (which is in walking distance) and great location for Shrewsbury.
Clean and fluffy towels and laundry, friendly, helpful staff (even got a call from reception to say breakfast was finishing, in case we wanted to come down before the kitchen closed), well stocked tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits. The staff ( especially ), setting and basic requirements to make a pleasant stay moved this rating from an "average" to a "Very good" for me. There were a few easily achievable changes to the facilities and experience, that would pop the rating into "excellent", but I will email the Hotel directly rather than state on here.
I havent rated the value as this stay was a gift from family.

Room Tip: Choose a room upstairs.

My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights - we were given a voucher for a 2night stay which included breakfast each day and afternoon tea.

The positives:
Lovely quiet and peaceful location
Staff were friendly and happy to help
Room was clean and tidy
Food was of a good standard (we ate both nights at the hotel and found the food very tasty and good value, breakfast was also good with enough choices to satisfy most)

The negatives:
Our bed was quite hard - the hotel was full so we did not ask to be moved
Bathroom could do with updating (it was a disabled bathroom - this did not bother us but could do with renewing)
Noise - not the hotels fault but we could hear people above us and beside us, also every time the people flushed the toilet above us we could hear it very clearly.

The afternoon tea - we both enjoyed this, perhaps our expectations were not as high as some of the other reviewers. We got a choice of wine to start, we could choose the type of sandwiches we got and then we got biscuits, slice of cake each and a fruit scone each. We also got tea or coffee. Personally I liked the afternoon tea as did my partner.

Overall this is a 3 star hotel and I think the value for money was actually ok.
