The hotel is set in a beautiful location, surrounded by the Shropshire countryside and for us the staff were some of the most polite and helpful we have ever come across. My wife and I stayed for 2 nights on an Amazon deal and although the dinner offered a limited choice it was of superb quality. For a restful break this is definitely the place to be. We checked into room 8 which was clean and well presented, overlooking the fields where Alpacas are kept( not funny looking sheep as one guest was herd to describe them to her young child). Now for the not so good bits. The floor boards in adjacent rooms were creaky and irritating at night, the patio area had no ash trays and wasn't cleaned the whole time we were there . Overall we wanted a peaceful couple of days and that's exactly what we got.

Room Tip: There's nothing here for children.

Thinking we might use the hotel in the future for a function we called in for coffee. Went to reception and asked if we could get coffee, (1030 a.m. Monday.). Receptionist pointed towards the bar and said we'd get it there. Bar was in darkness but the sign said "Ring bell if no one here." I did and there was no response. Rang again and no response. A lady polishing tables appeared and asked if we were alright. I said we were looking for coffee. She said "I'll find someone." Quickly she came back with a tray of coffee and showed us to the tables outside- excellent. We asked about paying she and indicated reception. The hotel had been busy over the weekend and with many smokers as the patio was covered in nub ends! Came to pay and the receptionist pointed to the bar and told us to pay there. I mentioned our experience and she said £4.50. Apart from the house keeper I could not believe how we were treated. If potential customers are treated so rudely how are paid customers treated?

My wife and had a really enjoyable two day break. The position is gorgeous overlooking the rolling fields of Shropshire.
We were surprised that when we arrived there was nobody on reception due to staff shortage we were eventually booked in to a lovely room again looking out over fields.
Our meal that night was spectacular the steak was to die for my Wife had the chicken which was again gorgeous, the staff were very attentive.
The second nights food
and service were again excellent all in all our stay was good, my only criticism was that the rooms were not cleaned and presented as I felt they should have been.
Yes we would go again but as this hotel is available for wedding receptions be careful when booking, but yes well recommend despite my niggles.
The total overall presentation of the hotel again is excellent.
Enjoy.

The Hotel is situated in the tranquility and beauty of the Shropshire countryside with great riverside walks nearby as well as the vineyard and roman ruins. The staff were very friendly, cheerful and helpful. The room we stayed in was quite small at the rear of the Hotel although clean, tidy and comfortable it suffered from a broken window and lack of any hot/warm water which after a long walk was disappointing. The roman banquet was a fun experience with an interesting menu the quality of a couple of the courses could have been better. Breakfast was plentiful and of a good standard. The vineyard is well worth a visit (walk) especially with the generous samples on offer! Overall we had an enoyable stay.
One note of warning we originally paid for a two night stay with roman banquet through KGB deals, having phoned the Hotel in June apart from a very small window of 3 days they had no two night stay availability until mid September. I contacted n crowd via e-mail (you cannot speak to anyone) requesting a refund they refused as it fell outside their 7 day redemption period. Thus we ended up with the one night, I will never use KGB again and wonder if the Hotel advertise rooms and space they cannot deliver upon within a limited timescale.

We arrived for afternoon tea and were seated in the bar area for a short while as we were early. We were then asked if we wanted to be sit inside or out. The weather was gorgeous so we went outdoors and were then served with a glass of prosecco and an array of delicious sandwiches - tuna/mayo - smoked salmon/creamed cheese - ham/mustard and cheese and tomato. We also had delicious sponge cake with shortbread biscuits and scones with jam and clotted cream. Tea and coffee were also in bountiful supply. The service of the waitress was second to none - she was very attentive and pleasant (Claire). All round a lovely afternoon - perfectly English!

Hotel needs some TLC, mattress was squeaky, soft and spongy, bathroom not the cleanest and even had a rusty and unnecessary shower tidy. Looks like it had been recently updated but to a poor standard. Dinner menu was limited and poorly cooked. However, Staff were really friendly and helpful. Bed and Breakfast rate was too much for what you got.

The Wroxeter Hotel in Shropshire is quite close to Shrewbury, a beautiful city. It is also next to a 2000 year old Roman site.
The hotel is surrounded by lovely countryside with Alpacas in the field next door. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff are helpful and obliging.
The breakfast was very good and in the evening you can choose between a Roman menu and a good English one. A very pleasant stay.
