“Shocking”

We attended the Wroxeter for a wedding and booked a double room to stay the night. When we went up to our room at midnight it was so unbelievably hot, the bed was tiny and we are certain it was a three quarter bed and not a double. The room was very dated and noisy from the next rooms bathroom. The shower tray was tatty and aged. There were moths all over the room as window needed to be open but the window was right by the fields. The whole room needed revamping and looking and presented like a hotel you pay £100 a night for not £40. Air conditioning is a must! Very disappointed

We just got back from a two night stay at the Wroxeter, firstly I must thank all the hard working staff for their kindness and professionalism, they really went the extra mile, my poor husband was struggling around on two crutches and all the staff couldn,t help enough, if this review was just about them I'd off awarded a five. Sadly the rooms left a lot to be desired, we stayed in Room 3, in the annex, ground floor. Firstly the annex itself has been badly designed and built, our room was on a end wall but bizarrely the waste water pipes from the upstairs room ran through our room, just boxed in, what a racket every time someone upstairs had a wash! Also the wet-room stank as it had no proper ventilation, why again didn't the builder put in narrow pushout windows as there was nothing on the other side of the wall but grass! The décor throughout the hotel was late 70,s early 80's, come on owner get some interior design people in. For what we paid we have no complaints as the rooms were clean and the bed comfortable, even if we could hear the couple upstairs having sex. We booked this package through Amazon Local for £99.00 for two nights, two breakfasts and the Taste of Shropshire, great value for us, but not worth paying more due to the points raised.

Room Tip: Do not sleep in any of the annex rooms upstairs or downstairs.

We just spent four days at the wroxeter hotel. The rooms are clean and furnished to a good standard. The breakfast was quality items and a good choice. We had a three course meal during our stay, limited choice but very tasty. The staff were nice and polite. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Word to the wise, hotel located next to a farm with chickens, cocks and alpacas. You will hear the c...

We chose this hotel as we were doing the nearby wine tour and it's certainly convenient for that. Sadly that's the best bit. The hotel is uninspiring and lacks soul. I'm sure as a wedding destination and venue it's perfectly adequate.
Our room was unpleasantly hot and the floorboards were extremely creaky. The shower seals were clearly covered in mould and in need of attention. The room was right next to the fire door and also had an adjoining door to the next room. The occupants of that room argued until approx 2.30 am and then had make-up sex.
The staff did their best to be helpful but the food was mostly tasteless and the sausages at breakfast almost raw. The poached egg had been briefly shown the hot water. There was no evidence of the continental breakfast option.
We stayed in Room 16, which overlooks a roof. I couldn't wait to get home after 2 nights with very little sleep.

Excellent hotel. Stayed overnight following wedding reception here. Beautiful location in Shropshire countryside. Lovely food and room very clean and comfortable. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Fans or aircon would be beneficial when weather is hot

When we arrived the grounds and hotel looked beautiful, the two ladies on reception were friendly, helpful and attentive. We went out and needed to try and ring the hotel it took three attempts. The evening meal was limited choice and when asked to have the fish fillited their responce was begrudgingly. There was no menu offered at breakfast and others in the roon were complaining also about the poor standards and incompitance and rudeness of the staff. Finally to top it off there was a large wedding on which made us feel unwelcone, facing loud music till the early hours and unable to sleep in the paper thin walls and loud music. Never again.

This hotel did not come up to expectations: the menu available in the dining room in no way resembled that featured on the web site, and food quality and choice was very disappointing. The room was very hot, with thin walls enabling us to hear neighbours using the loo, laughing and talking until 2 in the morning. As phone calls to reception at night were impossible, there being no staff available , I tried to search downstairs, for some help, but all to no avail. We were glad to come home for a good night's rest. The staff were always friendly and helpful, but they were understaffed and overworked, with many duties to perform, reception, bar, waitressing.

Room Tip: Perhaps rooms in the older part of the hotel would be cooler and quieter
