Back from a two day break at the Wroxter Hotel, booked on a Wowcher deal.

On arrival, the Hotel looked quite impressive, set in it’s own grounds in a very picturesque rural setting. We were checked in by a pleasant receptionist who explained that we had been booked in for our 3 course dinner (Part of the Wowcher deal) on the following day at 6.30pm. We were allocated room 23 which was on the first floor in the old part of the building.

The room was adequate, but appeared rather dated, with a very high ceiling and a tall, narrow window that wouldn’t open properly. The room looked down onto the corrugated roof of the extension below, which was not particularly appealing.

The old fashioned looking furniture comprised of a single free-standing wardrobe, two small bedside tables, a hardback chair and a large wall-to-wall laminated shelf, which housed a small flat-screen TV and electric kettle. TV reception was a bit tricky, with a two pronged “rabbit ears” type TV booster plugged into the TV. The bed was comfortable albeit a bit small - not sure if it was a double or a three-quarter divan, as we’re used to a king size at home.

In contrast, the bathroom was fairly modern, with a lowered ceiling with fitted halogen spot bulbs, bath, washbasin and WC. We did have a problem though, with no hot water on the second morning, and we were told that the boiler had unfortunately failed, despite being repaired just weeks earlier.

Having looked at the dinner menu, we decided to eat in on our first night and we were very impressed with both the attentive staff and the quality of the food, which was served in the Conservatory dining area.

We enjoyed the full English breakfast both mornings and the 3 course dinner on our second night was very good indeed.

All-in-all it was a fairly enjoyable stay but parts of the hotel do need to be updated.

We have just checked from a £99 2 night break with dinner on 2 nd night . Lovely setting , very freindly staff , very welcoming and helpful. The room was a standard room over looking the garden and we could see alpacas out of our window. The bathroom probably could do with an update but it was fine for 2 nights . The pillows were a little flat but they are my only slight moans .
The breakfasts were lovely and a great choice and the dining room had pleasant feel and good views . There is a small beer garden to sit in at night or to sit in during the day for tea and scones etc . We went out both days exploring nearby ironbridge and Shrewsbury both only 10 to 15 min away. The grounds of the hotel are lovely and it's a popular wedding venue I can see why . The 3 course dinner would of cost £25 and was excellent . The drinks at the bar were very fairly priced for a hotel . I would visit again and would recommend . Some people are just plain fussy from reading some other reviews . We stayed in room 6 which was fine but next to the fire door and stairs .

Stayed on a voucher for 2 nights and added a third which we paid for direct. our room was very comfortable, nicely decorated and had an amazing view of the countryside and lamas. The bathroom was a little small (no bath) but perfectly fine and with a decent shower.
We arrived after 11.00pm but the lady who checked us in was very friendly and arranged for some sandwiches and chips for us in the bar.Our voucher included a meal in the restaurant which was really good value for money and again the service was brilliant. James was particularly helpful and went the extra mile to help me arrange a last minute cake as it was my husbands birthday.
The breakfasts were fantastic and definitely worth getting up for although a 9.00am finish seems a little early!

Room Tip: The four poster rooms in the old part of the hotel have baths as well as showers

just wanted to say a big THANKYOU to all the staff at the wroxeter hotel that made our wedding day so special. From when we arrived after our church service, the staff looked after us amazingly and made us feel very welcome right through to the early hours. The meal was fantastic, we chose roast beef & chicken in a mushroom & brandy sauce. both were well received by our guests. The grounds are beautifully kept and we had all our photographs taken on the lawn, with the wrekin in the background. would definitely recommend to others as a wedding venue and all the staff clearly enjoy their jobs. thank you for a great day :)

We recently got married at the Wroxeter in July and I have to say the wedding planner we dealt with Daryl was beyond amazing, she really couldn't do enough for us :) as well as a bar tender Jamie he truly doesn't get the gratitude he deserves, he was fantastic on our day and tried his best to do everything he could.
I just wish all of the staff had the same enthusiasm, I found the majority miserable and far from enthusiastic, towards the end of our wedding day they seemed to have lost they're mojo and to be frank the place looked like a mess and my family were left tidying up glasses/rubbish so the evening guests could arrive and see how beautiful the place looked.

The rooms I personally believe are not worth £95 I was upset at the room I was given the night before (24) one of the single beds was broken, there was mould in the shower and on the roof of the shower, and the sink was filthy with someone else's tooth paste still left in it.

My parents then stayed in 24 the night of my wedding and they hadn't even cleaned it knowing there was a change over, so on my wedding day I went up to sort the room out.

The bugs in the beds and all over the rooms was a real problem, my guests all seemed to of had the same problem some waiting at 2am to have they're beds hoovered (not what you expect paying a considerable amount of money)

Overall I had a great day, but feel the owners need to invest some of the money they make from all the weddings back into the accommodation, and maybe show potential couples the accommodation before they book they're wedding.

I stayed here at the end of July with a Wowcher deal for two nights for two with breakfast and a three course meal on one of the nights. The hotel is in a convenient location to Shrewsbury and Telford with lots of nice walks and heritage parks to visit in the area. Although the area and the grounds of the hotel were very nice, the interior was a bit dated. They could do with changing the carpets and although the wallpaper looked new, not sure I was a fan and that it fit in with the feel of the hotel. We were a little disappointed with our room considering the pictures of the accommodation on their website. Our room was on the ground floor, room 5, and was very small with a basic double bed and a single crammed in and only one small window so it didn't get much light. The furnishings just seemed cheap and the poorly finished. Could certainly have done with a makeover. Although we overlooked this quite quickly, the worst thing about the room was how loud the floor boards the room above where. There were very loud creaks going on during the evening and from very early in the morning. It made having a relaxing lie in impossible. We did mention this to reception and they said that they were about to get the floorboards nailed down to stop this.
The full breakfast wasn't all that great either. The sausage didn't taste nice at all and the mushrooms didn't taste fresh so i recommend sticking to the continental! However the three course meal we had was a lot better.
Despite the downfalls with the room, the staff were all very friendly and nice. I don't think we would stay again though until they had given the rooms a make over!

Room Tip: Avoid the ground floor if you don't want to hear creaking floorboards all night!

We attended the Wroxeter for a wedding and booked a double room to stay the night. When we went up to our room at midnight it was so unbelievably hot, the bed was tiny and we are certain it was a three quarter bed and not a double. The room was very dated and noisy from the next rooms bathroom. The shower tray was tatty and aged. There were moths all over the room as window needed to be open but the window was right by the fields. The whole room needed revamping and looking and presented like a hotel you pay £100 a night for not £40. Air conditioning is a must! Very disappointed
