The Kraftalm was the most idyllic venue for our summer wedding -- we couldn't have chosen a better place. Jakob, Christl, and their daughter Marion were so friendly and accommodating to all of our plan-making, and then to us and our guests when the day finally came. The meadow, the terrace, the dining room -- all are gorgeous. Our guests could hardly believe their eyes. And all for very fair prices. We were a group of 60, so we couldn't all spend the night, but those guests that did stay the night were very happy with their cozy, simple, rustic rooms.
The food was delicious, the service was terrific and warm, and the place is just utterly fantastic.
The only tricky part for our big group was getting to-and-fro -- for the trip up, we splurged and paid to have the Salvistabahn gondola do a special trip for us (it's closed in the summer), but on the way down we had to hire a series of 8-person taxis to bring us down the very windy mountain road to our hotel (Club Hotel Edelweiss in Itter). Not only did it take a while to get everybody down, it was also pretty hard on the stomachs of some of the folks sitting in the backs of the vans. That said, that was only a minor drawback. The pros far outweigh this small con.
Overall, this place is an Alpine gem, run by a truly warmhearted and easygoing family. For anyone considering a mountaintop celebration of any kind -- this must be the place.
