“Perfect skiing vacation, even with a baby”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 February 2014

We stayed at the Kinderhotel Habachklause for a skiing vacation with our one year old. We wanted to be able to go skiing as a couple during the day, but take her along so we can have family time, do sledding, etc as well. Habahklause was absolutely perfect. They went out of their way to accommodate our little family including setting up stuff for the following day even though their reservations desk was already closed. They sorted all our lift tickets for Wildkogel and childcare for our daughter there at the hotel. We went skiing for the day and they brought her to us for our family dinners there at the hotel (dinners and breakfasts were excellent there as well!) They had several different types of toboggans and other outdoor snow stuff to play with on their hills around the hotel that we could just grab and use. For older kids they had ski school as well. The views of Wildkogel ski area at night from our room were magnificent as well. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again with the family as they really do cater to families and make it a holiday to remember.

We had a wonderful week at the Habachklause. This is a traditional, family run Kinderhotel offering the best of Austrian hospitality. Our kids (4 and 6) loved the kids club and kept asking to go. They spent most of their time outside with various animals, on walks and pony riding and came back with some lovely crafts they'd made. The evening session was great: we'd have dinner (early) as a family and then pop the kids in the last hour of kids club while we finished our dinner in peace. The food was wonderful. A lot of variety and often locally sourced (they have their own farm) and very fresh. The rooms were lovely, too.
We love the area. There are lots of day trips and cycling destinations and beautiful mountain walks. We would highly recommend it.

We stayed at this hotel for a week, we had a great time with two kids. We were looked after really well and they went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The location was great for excursions with the family and the hotel was very relaxing. The hotel organised daily trips which were well planned with children in mind. Highly recommended

This is a superb Kinderhotel, tucked away a couple of miles from Bramberg and Neukirchen - it's off the beaten track. The hotel is traditional Austrian in style with spacious rooms and four separate dining areas which ensures you don't feel crowded even when full, as it was last week. The host, Horst and his wife are very welcoming, as are all the staff. The food is of an excellent standard and the staff are extremely attentive, without being at all overbearing. Nationalities staying at the hotel were varied and included Americans, Brits, Germans, Dutch, Czechs and Russians, so a good cosmopolitan mix.

There are plenty of facilities for both adults and children in the ski season, with tobogganing outside the hotel on their own small slope (100m+ in length). New, younger beginners to skiing can learn on the same slope before progressing up to Bramberg or Neukirchen. For those who want to toboggan at length, there is a truly excellent run from the top of the mountain that comes out at the bottom of the Bramberg gondola - according to iSki it was 11+km in length.

We always drive to Austria because of the flexibility it affords, which meant that a trip to Kitzbuhel, a couple to Konigsleiten/Gerlos and the rest of the time in Bramberg, Neukirchen and Mittersill (where you can get over to Pas Thurn, Jochberg and Kitzbuhel) ensured we had plenty of variety. Equally we met people who had flown and they used the ski bus that comes right to the hotel entrance and found that to be an ideal mode of travel to Bramberg/Neukirchen.

I'd recommend this hotel for families with kids as the Kinderhotel ethos is really well followed at the Habachklause, there is always something for them to do, right down to Horst setting up a "disco" for half a dozen 7-10 year olds after the kids club had finished! Nothing is too much trouble. For the adults, a few drinks in the comfortable area near the children's drinks bar is an excellent way to finish off the day, playing Monopoly or one of the other many board games available, or simply chatting to friends. All in all an excellent hotel.

Room Tip: Room 303 has a great view up the valley at the back of the hotel.

We stayed in the Habachklause hotel for 11 days in January 2013. I’d say that the kinder hotel format is one of the best choices for those families with babies and young children and Habachklause is one of the best among such hotels.

There are several factors which made our holiday in Habachklause unforgettable. First of all is the hotel staff. I’ve never met such a friendly, ready to help and responsive hotel team. It’s difficult to explain how they managed to do it but all services were provided in an unobtrusive way and with consistent quality. The second factor is the range of facilities for babies and children. Special menu, including baby food, baby chairs, swimming pool, kinder and baby clubs, buggies and sleds, etc all this could be used for free to make your stay in the hotel both enjoyable and comfortable. Actually there are enough baby facilities to keep children occupied for at least two weeks. And the final factor is the mountains of course. Just within 5 minutes drive there was the huge Kitzbuhel ski resort where all the adults could spend time while their children are playing in the hotel supervised by baby-sitters.

Just a few words about certain drawbacks. You should be ready for all that Austrian style food. I can’t say that the food was exactly “bad” but it was food for
those people who are used to eating such kind of food. It would be great if some food for the Russians and other nationalities staying in the hotel were included in the menu. Secondly, they have to build a normal size swimming pool (which has been promised for next season). As a special feature for Russians: cancel the “guests own drink” ban. To try to earn something out of selling wine for 24 euros, which actually costs 4-7 euros in a supermarket, in a hotel costing 200 euros a night is what is called in Russian “krakhoborstvo” (there is no direct translation in English).

We are going to check another Kinder hotel next year and if there is no difference or lower standard of service compared to Habachklause we will come back to it very soon.

I love this hotel, we´ve been twice. I would go again and again, but I think our oldest have grown out of the kids program, such a shame. All the staff were so friendly and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. The entire hotel is spotless, food delicious, wine great, suites comfortable. We used the baby club more than we thought, they just kept asking to keep our 1 year old while we ate dinner together, what a treat! We took walks in the mountains behind the hotel, swam in the pool, rode the bikes provided and relaxed. With young children, a holiday for us is often hard work, but here the older children made friends and played in a safe environment and the younger ones were well taken care of in the childrens clubs. Highly recommended.
