Not too busy, family friendly area with all facilities needed, without being noisy.
Lovely ski school for beginners and children.
Cheap and honest food and drinks.

We took the gondel lift from Neukirchen up to the top station. Arriving on the top we first had a coffee on the terrace of the bergrestaurant whilst watching the paragliders prepare for their flights.
We set off for the top of the Wildkogel and made a loupe back to the middle station of the lift. All in all a good few hours of walking. Along the way you'll find plenty of berg hütte where you can have a bite to eat or have a drink.
We were fortunate that a local pointed us in the right direction, the the sign posting in the Austrian Alps is still a bit behind the Swiss. But that would be the only downside.

even if you are a very passionate skier or snowboarder you have to try the sledge riding, it is very, very cool. However pay attention you can get a lot of speed, you can reach up to 50 km an hour on the run.

A safe environment for the absolute novice skier, with progressively difficult slopes. Started with the Ski-Schule tutorship for two hours on Monday and Tuesday, then went on under the supervision of friends to ski some blues and reds and a little black.

wildkogel is smaller --only 53km of pistes, but because there is a ton of open terrain, its more like double that in a small area. you will never be bored and there is plenty to do here. they have the longest sled rides apparently here, but its not for spring.
