“Beautiful, peaceful”

We stayed on a campsite on the river side, under trees and even a bit of grass. Sites are small and close to each other. It did not bother us as we were part of a group. They have the most amazing "bomas" which were lovely for camp fires at night.
Keep and eye out for scorpians at night and make sure kids wear closed shoes. We only saw one during our 4 night stay but it was the deadliest one!
The pool is beautiful, it feels like an exotic location.
Ablutions are clean but old.
Campsites were serviced daily and the ground staff were very friendly.
There is an amazing Super Spar in Ausenker-made the stay even better.
We also went on a paddle on the Orange. River with a lovely guide, well worth it.

We stayed on the campsite facing the river and between the bungalows. Campsite has own electricity and water, ablutions are shared. As we were the only ones camping, we had the clean ablution block to ourselves. Lots of flies until the wind started blowing later in the afternoon. Because of the wind we decided to have our meal in the restaurant, which was a good decision. Food was prepared to way we ordered it. Very tasteful and not expensive. Overall a good experience.

We stayed in the family units on the banks of the Orange River. Clean, with air-con and a private 'boma' braai area. On arrival, our first impressions were not so great, but it was because it had rained the day before and they were cleaning up. Management here is on the ball! It looks like they are still improving and this place is not finished yet! We enjoyed our stay. Kids loved the pool!
Staff here were very friendly. And the restaurant was just AMAZING! We actually took the 'long way' around on our return to SA, just to have lunch HERE and not in Noordoewer. You will not be disappointed! They have card facilities, accept ZAR and N$ and there is a VERY well stocked SPAR in Aussenkehr, so it is a great place to stock up on everything you need on your way to Ai-Ais. They also have an ATM in the village.
The family unit's shower is 'open plan' and might be a little cold during winter. Fishing in the dam is perfect for the kids. The ONLY bad thing I can say about this place is the flies, but it IS on a farm, so there is not much you can do about it.
Great place.

We didn't planned to stop in Aussekeher but we was delighted by the surrounding, they make us stay one more night than planned !
The gave us an upgrade for free ( family room ) much more appreciated gesture.
The food was good, and not too pricey, all the green was coming from the surroundings and the salad was really nice.
The swimming pool is the best place to be and they even have some slip way to access to the orange river.
I will definitely visit them again

Room Tip: The familly room have nice braai facility, but beware the monkey if you leave remains of food outsid...

I stayed at Norotshama as a stopover travelling from Windhoek to Cape Town. While it is a bit of a detour and less convenient to access than places closer to the border post it is certainly worth it.

The detour has some great scenery. Norotshama is nestled between the Orange River and the grape vines of Ausenkehr. The restaurant serves a nice hot meal for the weary traveler. All areas including the bar and rooms are air-conditioned. The pool is well thought out and with temperatures constantly soaring in this are it becomes the gathering point for all guests.

Take a paddle up the river at sunset if you can

Only downside is that they do not put the aircon in the rooms on before arrival. This means your room can be above 40 degrees when you step in and will probably not cool down throughout the night. Phone in advance and ask them to switch it on.

Room Tip: Ask for a river facing room and phone in advance to have your room's aircon switched on

The accommodation next to the Orange River is beautiful, overlooking the river with part of the Richter's veld in the background.
The bungalows and reception are beautiful but the dining room is in need of some maintenance. Sliding doors can't open and this spoils the setting.
The service in the dining room is not up to standard , although the food is tasty.

We spent two nights at Norotshama River resort and loved every moment! There were three of us and we each had our own cabin with a hammock out on the little front verandah and a view of the birds coming and going across the small dam. And then wandered over to the beautiful pool for a swim. The staff were helpful and friendly.

Our only complaint was compared to everything else the quality of food in the restaurant was not up to the high standards set in other departments
