I stayed here for four nights and the only thing I can fault it on was going to bed feeling like a bloated Python every night. Barry and his staff are welcoming and friendly, the food very good, the rooms quiet and comfortable, the other locals friendly and the prices reasonable. A refreshing change from bland/sterile Premier Inns that my company have a habit of choosing.

Have just returned from a 4 night say at The Jolly Drover. I must admit to being somewhat sceptical when I read reviews, however, The Jolly Drover surpassed expectations. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. The room was modern, very clean and spacious. Breakfast was excellent and catered for personal choice. The bar menu was also excellent, so much so that we we chose to eat there each night of our stay. The food was all home cooked and delicious. This is an honest review and I would not hesitate to recommend The Jolly Drover to all my friends and family.

Back again after my previous visit 6 months before. Still lovely, clean, comfy and great food! Such a great home-from-home when I come to visit family in the area. And Barry the host was so helpful over my efforts to find an address .. even collaring the postman! Thank you!

We stayed here (slightly off route) for a night while walking the South Downs Way and are we glad we did. On arrival met by the wonderful owner Barry and we decided to have a quick drink before going to the room to change for dinner. Not all went to plan, after chatting to a couple of the regulars we never managed to get back to the room at all (thank you Barry for taking our bags there!!)

Lovely food and great company made for a wonderful nights stay and when we, finally, saw the room it was perfect (pictures online do not do the rooms justice)

All we can really say is if you are planning on staying anywhere in this area anytime do not look anywhere else if you want a great night.

The only downside of the whole thing was I am not completley sure a night like we had was ideal preparation for a long walk the next day (but hey we managed it)

A big thanks you to Barry and his ever efficent manager Sarah for making it such a great weekend.

We are very lucky to be able to call this our local, family run, very pleasant staff and really great food, always a good range of choice in a warm atmosphere, can't beat a comfortable leather sofa in front of that roaring log fire.

This time just a quick overnight stay but the quality was as good as previously experienced.
The rooms are well kitted out with all the little extras that help make things so comfortable; iron, tv, plentiful tea and coffee, hairdryer etc. The accommodation is a little gem.... and then there's the fantastic food. As mentioned by others, it's top quality; from generous fillings in their sandwiches (thumbs up for the roast beef and the coronation chicken) to the excellent bangers and mash or homemade pies - you know you've eaten 'proper' grub!
The staff are lovely and on the ball but the credit really lies with the engine room, Barry and Anne, who really understand the meaning of providing a great service.

Room Tip: Not needed..! All rooms are relaxing, light and airy and very comfortable. Bathrooms very spacious...

This was just lovely!! Comfiest bed ever, lovely clean room and bathroom with lots of thoughtful touches .. a cafetiere and real coffee being just one!! Warm as toast on a very cold weekend, but with heating you can control yourself. Everything was good quality and tasteful .. it felt like a home from home.

The pub itself, which is a few steps away across the yard, is one of the nicest ever with a very welcoming atmosphere, so cosy with a massive log fire in an inglenook with comfy sofas in front. The food is great, with a really good choice for vegetarians.

My cooked breakfast was perfect both mornings. The staff are helpful and friendly. I really cannot fault the place!
