“Tres Belle”
Reviewed 23 February 2014

As usual reviews are right for this delightful hotel set in the countryside quite near to Montreuil Sur Mer. We stayed for three nights and although expensive (we paid 95 euro for room only) you are paying for the setting and ambience. The rooms are furnished to a very high standard although a longer stay would need more storage. The bathroom was fantastic-so unusual to have such a large bathroom with a great shower! And for us Brits-tea making facilities which again is unusual for French rooms. We dealt mainly with Sandrine and she was so helpful with our basic French and her good English we got by! She recommended places to visit and we visited some new areas for us in the region-St Valery Sur Somme a nice town to see.I dont want to be picky but at 15 euro per person for breakfast and the 40 euro set meal thought that a little OTT. We did not take breakfast because of that as you can get coffee and croissant in local cafes for much cheaper. We did eat in the restaurant one night and as others have said it was delicious but again the local town of Montreuil has some great restaurants (the Patio for instance) with menus at 27 euro. I realise guests at Le Clos would like to be able to have a drink and not drive and that is the attraction to the restaurant but it can be a very expensive evening once you have wine etc (well over 100 euro for two and not sure what you would do if you had children with you). St ill this doesn't take away from the lovely stay we had and we would definitely return.

Room Tip: All the rooms seemd equally good all on ground level

My partner and myself stayed here for the second time the weekend beofre last (November). It was as lovely as we remembered it. The personal service is so welcome in this modern world and the hosts Sebatien and Sandrine make this a priority. Exquisite food again in the restaurant and the most peaceful, tranquil surroundings you could hope for. If you're looking to spoil yourselves one weekend, Le Clos de la Prairie is highly recommended. Charming!

Room Tip: Don't worry about the rooms. There are only eight of them. We've looked in them all and they...

Wow! My wife and I chose this hotel after reading reviews here for a brief stop on our way back to England. We were not disappointed. This is a small hotel in a converted farm. We stayed in a block of seven rooms which looked very recent. The room was large and well furnished with no signs of wear whatsoever. The establishment is family owned and we were met by Sebastian, a charming man who showed us to our room, which was available even though we arrived at 11am. We needed a guided tour of the room, because there are quite a few gadgets. An electric blind keeps out all stray outside light, there's remote-controlled aircon which also heats and the bathroom is a marvel with programmable towel heater and large walk-in shower. Tea/coffee-making facilities are provided as well as a flat screen TV, and the hotel provides free wifi which works in room. The bed was large and comfortably firm and the walls of the room feel thick, so we had no disturbance from other guests. The surroundings of the Clos de la Prairie are idyllic - in the heart of the countryside, yet only 90 miles from Calais. We opened our shutter in the morning to find a very surprised cow grazing only a few meters from our window. Sebastian pointed us at Montreuil for a pleasant afternoon walking the ramparts and visiting this medieval town, and we also visited Berck for a bracing walk along the wide sandy beach. Agincourt is only 20 minutes from here, and Le Touquet not much further. There is a restaurant on the premises and its reputation is justly high, so booking is advisable. I had the scallops followed by veal finishing with poached pears, and they were all uniformly wonderful. The amuse-bouche to start with was a work of art comprising seafood and black radish, and later we were given a palate-cleansing sorbet of lemon and ginger - which was one of the most delicious things I have ever tasted. The wine list is not extensive, and not cheap, but all good and appropriate to the dishes. The breakfast is just as delightful - fresh bread and pastries, with local cheese, jams and a freshly-laid egg, washed down with freshly pressed orange juice and plenty of good coffee, really set us up for the day. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

Incredibly well placed for visiting WWI sites, an underground city, a beautiful abbey and gardens, an historic and fascinating steam railway, a fantastic bird reserve, a mediaeval town and the beautiful Pas de Calais and Picardie countryside, this wonderful hotel is one of the most peaceful and comfortable places in which we have stayed.

The restaurant serves great food, the patroness is helpful and charming and the wines and the Calvados are very good.

The room we had was very comfortable and had every facility that we needed. The view from the room was beautiful and the peace and quiet was complete.

We have been visiting this hotel/restaurant since it opened seven years ago and cannot fault it. Our most recent visit was on 20th August where we enjoyed pre dinner drinks on the terrace with its view over the Authie valley. We have a house nearby and this is most definitely our favourite place to eat. The food is faultless and prepared with love and care by Sebastian whilst his wife, Sandrine, attends to front of house with friendliness and efficiency. We have stayed in the hotel too during a night's visit in mid winter and it matches the exacting standards of the restaurant. We cannot recommend this delightful place too highly.

The rooms are spacious, wonderfully light with large shower. The beds are wonderful. The owners, Sabrine and Sebastian strive to make guests feel that their hotel is a home away from home. The breakfast in the morning is fantastic and everything is done so beautifully and tastefully.

We spent quite some time searching around for what would be our final night in France after three 'beach' weeks on the Med'. Oh it was worth it!

Every aspect of this establishment is outstanding. The warm welcome, the exquisite rooms, the fabulous food the peace and tranquility. Everything is of high quality. We do hope to return.
