“Perfect for a break”
Reviewed 11 August 2014 via mobile

You will feel very much at home when you visit this site.

As you approach the you will notice that it is situated in a beautiful location right on the edge of the lough. Perfect for fishing if you are into that kind of thing.

The site itself is very neat and extremely well maintained, the owners have taken great care to provide an excellent facility which includes a lovely club room and shop. The bathrooms are scrupulously clean and unusually for the south of Ireland, the showers are hot and free, yup no more paying €1.50 for 5 mins of lukewarm water.

The owners are extremely welcoming and you will feel right at home from the minute you arrive. The facilities include a tv, book exchange, board games and a darts board all inside the club room, outdoors there is a outdoor seating area and boules pitch ( or whatever it is called), we were even invited to join in a barbecue on our visit.

Downsides, well the location is pretty but it is 3 miles away from the nearest pub along the usual narrow lanes full of speeding jeeps pulling cattle trailers so be brave and wear high vis if you want a pint or three or even fancy a lobg walk however the on site club room is better craic than a pub anyway even if there is no licence, just drink your own beer and save a fortune in the process.

In summary. This is a perfect professionally run site of a standard you will find difficult to match in Ireland.

Stayed at this wonderful campsite for just 1 night - could not have asked for more! The site was very clean and well kept and had a really friendly atmosphere. We parked our campervan on one of the hard standing pitches which was more than spacious. Will definitely be staying here again!

We booked in to stay for two nights, but it was so good we just had to stay another 2. This is the cleanest, friendliest and quietest site we have ever stayed at. All facilities are immaculate and the owners have put a lot of thought into making your stay as easy as possible. They have thought of everything you might need and provided it! The surroundings are beautiful with the lough literally just across the road from the site. It was perfect for canoeing and we enjoyed cycling and walking around the countryside. We can't wait to return again soon.

On looking for a new caravan park to stay in this summer, I turned to Trip Advisor to see what fellow caravaners were saying about Parks in the West of Ireland. As I write reviews for "TA" myself I certainly had every confidence in the hope that my wife and I would find a park that would suit our needs to exactly what we were looking for...
1) Off the beaten track but yet handy to a main shopping town, 2) well run, 3) good pitches, 4) good showers & WC's, 5) good clubroom, 6) no hidden extras, Lough Arrow had these and more to boot!!
From the moment we drove onto the Park and up to reception we were greeted by Mary (one half of the Team) with a warm welcoming smile and who very quickly got us signed in with the minimum of fuss, made us feel at home and introduced us to her husband Terry (the other half of the Team) who pointed out were all the various aspects like drinking water, waste water etc were situated and then allowed us to get settled on a wonderful pitch over looking uninterrupted country side. Opposite the entrance to the Park is Lough Arrow itself and a fisherman's paradise, with a jetty to fish from or just a short walk, further along the road, boats can be hired. The park itself has also a B & B facility, (for the non caravaner) plus if you would like a cooked breakfast (not over priced for what is on offer) without the bother of cooking it yourself, the clubhouse is open for breakfast each morning from 09:00 until 11:30. Moving onto the toilet block and showers which are free, yes FREE and hot as well they had to be one of the most cleanest toilet and shower blocks I have seen in a long time. The Park is also one of the most professional and efficiently run small independent caravan parks I have come across in a long time and absolutely deserve their 4 stars. A lot of the bigger Parks throughout Ireland could learn something from them! I should also point out that the Park is adult only (dogs allowed on the lead) and if you love peace and quiet then this is the place for you. The only deafening sound is the silence. Lough Arrow Caravan Park - Oh, what a treat!

This campsite is by far one of the best we have stayed at in over a year of travelling! No extra costs like shower tokens and just beautiful views and location. The cleanest showers and toilets I've ever seen in a campsite and really friendly people. It makes such a difference when the people running the place care and everything is so well thought out-thank you!

One of the best run sites I've stayed in, very friendly, clean and reasonable. Great location right on the lake. While the site's adult only policy has upset one reviewer, this is what it is, like many other accommodation types, it is catering for a particular demand. While it may be the only one of its kind in Ireland, they are plentiful in the UK. I look forward to returning, and enjoying the tranquility of a site catering for the non-family market.

This is what a campsite should be like:-
• Great location
• Friendly staff
• Peace and tranquillity
• First class facilities
• Spotlessly clean toilets and showers
• Reasonable prices
• No extras
• Lovely well maintained grounds
• Minimum rules and regulations signage

One suggestion for improvement would be to provide wifi on site. This is fast becoming a requirement on campsites.
