“stay for lunch not overnight”
Reviewed 3 April 2013

we had lunch here last year and thought it would be amazing to stay for a few days. Unfortunately it was a disappointment.everything was rundown and the staff indifferent. The bathrooms were not so clean and the shower water salty. The beach was OK but narrow, As other reviewers have noted the WIND and surf noise is really unusually loud, because of the location of the huts on the bluff. the coffee was instant and nobody can make a margarita.

so have lunch: fish ceviche and a beer. but do not try to stay overnight.

This ecological site still has its rustic charm but not for too much longer as changes will be taking place over the next year. Beautifully located on a peninsula south of Tulum, Cesiak charms her occupants with raw beauty.

My husband and I stayed at CESIAK for one night in November 2012. We drove in from Tulum which is a very short drive so we arrived early in the day. We checked into our palapa/tent right on the beach and had a wonderful lunch on the deck at the restaurant. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming and gave us a tour of the property when we arrived. The views of the beach and of the jungle are absolutely gorgeous and you can walk or swim on a virtually untouched beach. There's no electricity in the tents which was actually really nice since there were candles and a lantern we could use and it was very intimate and quite romantic. The palapa had a porch with a hammock and two wooden chairs and it was a beautiful spot to relax and watch the ocean. We fell asleep to the sounds of the waves. We left the tent window a little open (with the mosquito net still up of course) and woke up with the sunrise next day. The bed was comfortable. The shared shower and bathrooms were clean and comfortable with hot water. We had a lovely breakfast at the restaurant's roof terrace. We then went on the canal day tour with a wonderful knowledgeable guide named Miguel. The tour was beautiful and included a boat ride, floating in a canal and view of the lagoon and the flora and fauna of the Bioreserve. Lunch back at CESIAK was excellent and our guide made sure I received a vegan meal. After the tour, we spent a few more hours taking advantage of the pristine beach, the sunshine and the water before driving back to Tulum. Staying here was one of the highlights of our vacation. Spending the night so close to the beach and the day so close to nature was a refreshing treat and the atmosphere and staff really contributed to an overall wonderful experience. I couldn't recommend this place more highly.

I stayed here during December of 2012, and it was fantastic. I know that there are pictures and complaints that it is run down, but that was not my experience at all. I should say that the name of the lodging portion here is Boca Paila Camps, and they truly are camps. They are tents enclosed in cabins with no electricity and running water inside them. Within a minute walk is the main building which has electricity, bathrooms, wifi and a restaurant.

I actually got food poisoning (not from the restaurant here) and had to use the bathroom about every two hours for three days. Though it was not a pleasant experience, I never had to wait for the bathroom, and it was never dirty. I'm not sure what beyond incredible was, but one of the gals offered to come with us to the hospital and wait with us for however long.,, And this was on Christmas.

Room Tip: There are two cabins located on the left hand side, they are a little sheltered by the wind, but tha...

I have been going to Tulum for years and years and have had meals at Cesiak, but never stayed. This trip we stayed there.. ! It was FANTASTIC!!! Everyone was so amazing! The views were amazing, the best sleep I've had in years too!!! Lolo was incredibly helpful checking us in, Jeronimo (Who I had met on my last trip in November) was fantastic and taught me more Mayan words and phrases. The bartender who worked with him was fantastic (I'm sorry I don't remember your name) and was really helpful in pointing out the constellations and the Milky Way at night. Jose and the bartender who worked with him were both great! The beach was absolutely stunning as usual - you can walk for miles and miles and not walk into anyone! (Just remember to put on your sunscreen before you start or you'll end up with very amusing burn lines like we did! Bring your camera! You never know what you'll see. Our Tent Cabin was very clean. Housekeeping made some adorable sheet animals for us! The bathrooms were always clean. The one up by the restaurant has water in the toilet and the ones at the bathhouse are composting - you just toss sawdust in when you're done. Surprisingly the sawdust does a really good job of taking care of anything potentially stinky. The walk to the restrooms was no further than walking to the bathroom in the office so no complaints there. The shower rooms were wonderful and very well kept - but I just jumped into the ocean more times than the shower - We saw amazing birds and animals throughout Cesiak and Sian Ka'an as well. Just a great trip and the food is really good there too!!!

Room Tip: All of the tent cabins are great. We had cabin 9 which has an ocean view but it's behind the tre...

This was our second visit, first same time 2012. The kitchen and wait staff are the same, friendly and helpful, but new management has not kept up facilities. Much erosion on the beach, though we saw no debris. Cabanas are on top of the dune and the evening wind is strong. Still no water or electricity in the tents on platforms where one sleeps. Showers and composting toilets at the south end of the row of cabanas. Food is good and not too spicy.. Excellent home made guacamole and fruit drinks. I recommend the hibiscus tea and the watermelon fruit drink. The food prices are a little more expensive than last year - breakfast 85, lunch 110, supper 150+. The fish is fresh and very good. The boat trip this year did not include the bird island where the spoonbills come back at dusk to roost, but it did include the opportunity to drift down a fresh water canal on a life jacket. We had light rain at night, overcast and cool weather several days. A sweatshirt would have been helpful. Blankets and large towels in the cabanas kept us warm at night.

The rule is a new fee every time one leaves and re-enters the park area, though that was not always enforced. The Tulum ruins are worth a visit and the fee for entrance, ride from the parking lot to the ruins, and guide was 200 pesos. Lunch at one of the restaurants was almost that much.

Room Tip: We stayed in 4 - check to be sure torn screen has been fixed. The Roundhouse with two bedrooms and f...

This was our first visit to Cesiak and it was a magical place to stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We went on a kayaking trip and a boat ride in the mangroves and both activities were excellent. Managed to see some incredible wildlife and ate some tasty food in the restaurant. Thoroughly recommend a cocktail on the roof bar whilst watching the sunset, a truly wonderful experience.
