We stopped in one of the gites for a 5 day break and felt at home and relaxed within hours! the gite was lovely, very well equipped, A couple of English TV channels, free wifi to keep in touch if need to.

The grounds are lovely and quiet, very relaxing. The groundsman was there most days and not only was he doing a great job but also a wealth of local knowledge (all the team running the gites are English).

The pool kept our son very happy. After a long day out sight seeing or biking to return to a relaxing pool and jacuzzi was spot on!

The gites are in the grounds of the Manoir house, currently the hotel in the Manior is closed, but that allows the place to be lovely and quiet.

Approx 1.5 miles up the road is a VTT trail (off road mountain bike route), which whilst not a trail centre is a great place for some off road biking. If mtb'ing is your thing, get a VTT map from Bannalec as there are loads of trails near by to ride..

The Manior is about 30 mins from a number of beaches, most ideal for kids.

negative bit ... there is no shops within walking distance. nearest is Bannalec, a couple of miles away. an easy bike ride to get the morning bread!

all in all, a great peaceful place, ideal to escape the chaos of day to day work with a great small team to look after you. We are already thinking about the next visit!

Room Tip: mobile phone signal is better near the pool room!

Just returned from our seventh stay of a week at the Manoir. The DP rates are fantastic value, with very good evening dinner in their traditional and intimate restaurant. Once again Paulette and her staff looked after us well and we look forward to staying again next year, God willing!

We have just returned from our third trip to Manoir du Menec and had another fabulous holiday. The location and atmosphere are to die for! Great food in the restaurant, an indoor swimming pool for the kids and close to Concarneau, Benodet and Pont Aven. The grounds are superb and the service and rooms simply stunning. Our family room was just off the central turret, our girls loved the huge space an the dramatic circular staircase. It's more like a fairytale castle. Will me booking again and again.

Room Tip: Family rooms are huge and all off the circular staircase in the turret.

We have just returned from spending a week in the gite 'Lautrec' in the grounds of Manoir du Menec. The gite was ideal for two people - very comfortable, beautifully clean and well equipped. There was even a microwave which I hadn't expected. The grounds of the Manoir were very green and tranquil and the lovely old stone buildings provided a beautiful setting. The owner, Hilary, was very welcoming and helpful and we would certainly recommend a holiday there.

Just returned from six nights staying at the Manoir du Menec. We booked through the Brittany Ferries website, it was our second choice Hotel but have to say we were not disappointed. We stayed in the family room which was on the first floor above the restaurant, and whilst we would not choose a pink bathroom suite at home the decor, we felt added to our "French" experience. The room was clean, and the furnishings adequate. We only had dinner one night at the Manor as we travelled around and there is so much other choice, however the meal was excellent, although we felt a little expensive. Breakfast consisted of a choice of cereals, and also a choice of croissants and bread, the coffee & hot choc served by a friendly Waitress was excellent.

The facilities at the Manor are quite extensive (although a little dated) our two children enjoyed the swimming pool, however it was not heated and fairly cold (they are much braver than their parents!) There is also an indoor gym area, Pool table and a sauna.

Located around the Courtyard area are a number of Gites, they did not appear to be fully occupied, and therefore it was quiet at night, exactly what we were looking for.

I would certainly be happy to recommend the Manor if you are like us you are looking for a good clean base at a sensible price.

Beautiful setting , medieval everything - but warm and comfortable , excellent hosts , good country cooking - just the sort of thing that is so rare now in England .
We were enchanted . Bear in mind this is not an expensive hotel , so the odd eccentricity in fitments is almost part of the charm and overwhelmed by the general ambiance . If you are the sort of people who crack up if the bidet is not gold-plated , or fall apart if there is an amusing medieval loo ( not apparently in use but there for emergencies ?) behind the door next to your bed , then this may not be for you - in fact , France may not be for you . We though, loved it and met several guests returning for the "n"th. time .
Thank you Sider and Paulette , see you again soon .

Room Tip: Get a room in the Tower , unless you are agoraphobic . They are huge and very medieval .

Stayed three nights as part of a Brittany Ferries offer. All amenities and facilities advertised were available, except that the indoor pool was not heated. Although our room was of a good size the furniture and decor was very dated. A patch in the ceiling had been painted white contrasting with the overall cream colour and the varnish on the furniture was cracked. Although supposedly en suite the lavatory was in a separate unventilated cubicle, the hand basin in a converted cupboard in the bedroom and the bathroom in yet another unvented room. This meant that if one went to the loo one then had to walk to the hand basin to wash ones hands and then on to the bathroom to dry them as there was no towel rail next to the basin.. The hot water supply was minimal and there was no soap dish in the rather tacky small shower cubicle. The pole for the umbrella outside was missing. There were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Our room was quiet and the bed very comfortable.

The huge garden surrounding the manor house was very neglected. Geat pity as it must have once been stunning. It needs a full time gardener.

We had one over priced second-rate evening meal. E.g. the pork loin was tasteless and tough and appeared to have been pre-cooked and then had sauce poured over it. The chocolate cake desert was inedible. The wines were also very expensive and no reasonable "house wine " was on offer. The continental breakfast was also disappointing: small glass of very sweet unchilled fruit juice (undrinkable), croissants and tasteless bread. The tea and cofee was however good - two tea bags in the pot.

One got the impression that Le Manoir had been a a great place some twenty years ago but that very little was being spent keeping up the rooms and gardens.and that the present owners don't have the funds to modernise the accommodation or care for the garden.. We were not surprised that there were only three other couples staying when we were there.

Jevan .
