Lovely rural peaceful location, visited great antique centres at Hemswell,
barn conversion was lovely and warm when we arrived, and the owner John was
very helpful. The barn conversion was spotless and bed very comfortable, we also
loved the wonderful wood burner. We did not want to leave as it was so good.
Our little dog loved her walks around the farm.
We have just enjoyed a two night break with our Collie Dog Jack we could not have asked for anything else to be supplied as there was everything you needed for a comfortable stay. The log burner was lovely to come back to after a day out in the cold. Will be back soon
Our second stay at Larkrise Cottage was as lovely as the first and will not be the last. We took the dog this time and he settled in well and enjoyed walking around the field and stretching out in front of the log burner. We found extra bed space this time with two comfy doubles in the bedroom which is plenty big enough to fit them in. We tried the sofa bed this time and this was comfortable too. The DVD player was back in action which was great. We had a few relatives round for tea and got Fish and Chips from Kirton, plenty of room for everyone to eat and enough seating for everyone (8 people). (Chips were good and portions generous.) Hope to visit again next year.
The Cottage is spacious, clean, well equipped.
Kirton itself is a short drive or walking distance for the healthy, with pubs, shops and take-aways. Lincoln is not far South, Gainsborough with its very interesting old hall is close, and Blyton Race Track is even closer! Hull and such interesting places as Epworth, Barton-on-Humber, Brigg & Grimsby and the North Sea Coast are all well within reach, as is Leith and the Wolds (where Cadwell Park Race Track is situated).
It is also well situated for folk interested in WW2 history, especially of the RAF.
There are numerous pubs in picturesque villages and small towns close. Most serving at least some local ales and good food.
The Stephensons breed pigs and chickens, the first of which produce fine pork , bacon and sausages...all sold in the Farm Shop, just behind the cottage!
There are other larger Farm shops nearby too!
A fine, very comfortable, relaxing spot surrounded by interesting places to visit!
a quaint barn conversion tucked away on a small working farm and caravan club camping site.. The cottage itself is ideal for short breaks in the countryside a few minutes drive from Kirton Lindsey..
It has everything you need and the owners live next door so any issues (we had none) could easily be resolved
Would we return - yes, in fact we are back in September ... Good value for money
