“A Hidden Gem”
Reviewed 9 April 2013

Buxy may not be on the main tourist routes in Burgundy, but it is well worth making the effort to seek out this dining delight! It is sometime since we visited this restaurant, although we have enjoyed meals here in the last nine years. Recently the restaurant has undergone some excellent renovations to the decor, which are very pleasing, but I am delighted to say that the cuisine has not wavered from the excellent choices available. There is also a magnificent selection of wines. Do put "Aux Anées Vins" on your list to visit. I am sure you will not be disappointed!

“Surprisingly good”
Reviewed 16 September 2012

Four of us visited and chose from the fixed price menu. The food quality and service were excellent and the sommelier provided great advice on the wines. The experience was so good that we booked to eat there later in our holiday and enjoyed an equally good experience with amazing flavours.

“Not to be missed!”
Reviewed 28 May 2012

Two dinners and a memorable Saturday lunch, in the course of an extended stay near Buxy, have definitely put Aux Annees Vins on our list of favorites. The restaurant is in the small inner courtyard of the fifteenth-century fortress/castle that dominates the center of the village; inside is a very pleasant dining room and some smaller function rooms. According to the Michelin guide, the very nicely-done murals on the ceiling and some of the walls were done by the chef-owner's father. Menus, when we visited, ranged from E30- on up, and were superbly executed and presented. Lamb is particularly good, and desserts are really imaginative; the wine list covers the excellent local vineyards as well as the main French terroirs, and I particularly liked the whites from Montagny, just down the D981 from Buxy. Service is well-paced and very friendly. Reservations are strongly recommended (although we got lucky on the Saturday, showing up because we had just arrived in Buxy; others who came later had to be turned away). The chef-owner's wife Celine is the sommeliere, and will cheerfully help you choose a good wine that doesn't have to require a second mortgage. We were completely won over, and if we are lucky enough to get back to Buxy (a really charming wine village in the Cote Chalonnaise) we'll look forward to another visit to Aux Annees Vins -- (Small travel hint, at no extra charge: Buxy has a really fine local wine cooperative where you can pick up the full range of wines from the region -- some of them absolutely superb -- at surprisingly good prices...)
