This is a beautiful area, but not exactly wild, at least not in the main park area. The Azusa river is clear and rushes by, the mountain peaks tower above and the marked walking path is pleasant enough. It is not a wilderness experience, but it has its interesting points. We were able to see the fabled monkeys foraging in the river for some type of tidbits. We even saw a mother with a baby - very cute! Be advised that getting into the park is expensive: ¥500 to park and about ¥1000 per person each way on a bus. No private cars are allowed.
