“Good hotel near lake”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

This is a newly built hotel at Versoix, very near to lake Geneva. Rooms are very good, clean. If you select lake side rooms then nice view of the lake. The hotel is located very near to a railway station. Coop supermarket is also located in the same complex.
Although this is a newly built hotel, during our stay one door of a cupboard in a room fell and injured my sister-in-laws leg. If she had hold the door more loosely the foot/toes might have broken. We received some first-aid from the reception but hotel management did not gave any compensation for the inconveniences. In another room I saw some water leakage from air-conditioner which we had to report to the reception.

Room Tip: Lake side room.

Stayed one night at Lake Geneva Hotel. Before arriving we had an exchange of e-mails with the hotel about the parking: they were very helpful in explain us everything that we needed to know. If you arrive by car you can go directly to the garage that the hotel share with Coop (a Swiss major Supermarket chain).
Parking is very convenient with the elevator you reach directly the reception, and once you have checked in with the badge you obtain are able to go up and down from the garage directly to the floor of your room.
I had no breakfast so I’m not able to comment it, the lobby is very bright with new furniture. I think the hotel has been opened this Springs as part of requalification of the center of Versoix, in fact there still some works nearby. Railway station also very close to the hotel. With an elevator you can reach directly Coop (I’m Swiss so I know the prices but foreigners could find Swiss supermarkets a little bit expensive) where buy food, beverages, etc.. We booked a superior room with lake view: the rooms was very new with a king Bed and a sofa under the window for the lake view, also the bathroom was very new. The size of the bathroom and the room were fine I have nothing to complain about the room. The only negative aspect was the we found several cobwebs and even two spiders! It’s very strange because everything look well cleaned…..
Overall a pleasant stay with and interesting price considering how close to Geneva is the hotel. Will visit again without doubts.

New hotel, very trendy, very clean, lovely bedding and bathroom facilities. Downsides are,
No minibar (which was in the description of our deluxe lake view room), would have been nice to have fridge to cool the water we purchaed from Coop supermarket beneath hotel. No Tea/Coffee making facilities in room, also nowhere to purchase a coffee etc late at night, which having travelled extensively, found this very weird to have absolutely no facilities to use. We fortunately visited friends for most of our stay, therefore did not use restaurant, this did not look busy at all, which is very off-putting, plus looking at menu seemed expensive!!!!! The WiFi although free is not easy to set up, also not very efficient as seems to close down - so rather pointless. Our next complaint is, NO Housekeeping supplied on a Sunday, never experienced this before. We left our room almost the whole day to come back to find, no-one had been to make beds, clean the bathroom or change towels- most bizarre!!!! And......although bathroom very nice, found quite dangerous as the bath which has shower over it, has no grab rails anywhere, one has to be so careful whilst getting into and out of bath for a shower as it is quite slippery, the only thing to hold onto is the glass shower panel- not a good idea!!!!
To sum up, nice new modern hotel, expensive for what is on offer (not a lot)- probably wouldnt re-book, as would have like more to warrant the cosr!!!!

Room Tip: Deluxe Lake View- possibly one of the more expensive, but if window open very noisy with traffic as...

The location is excellent with a really stunning view of the Lake. The hotel is new so it very modern and clean. However, the air conditioning is really poor and unfortunately there does not seem to be much they can do about it. They gave us heavy duvets with no extra sheet under the duvet to allow you the option of throwing off the duvet. I requested a sheet the next which made it more bearable to sleep at night. We had gone for a friend's birthday celebration and so were returning back in the early hours of the morning and needed to sleep off the late nights and the alcohol. We were called by reception both days at 11am to ask whether we wanted our room cleaned because we were still there. Both times we said to give us half an hour and promptly at 11.30 were given another call to say that we were not out of our room as yet. Is this unique to Geneva I wonder? I do realise that cleaning staff need to get their work done but we were in Geneva for a vacation and wanted to wake up and leave our room when we desired and not to be dictated to by the hotel staff. I found some of the staff very helpful particularly the night staff who had to rummage around at 2am in the morning for a sheet because the cleaning staff had decided to remove the one I had requested, leaving me without a duvet or a sheet to cover myself. Another staff member initially told me that she could not tell me the train timings as she did not have a timetable, so when I asked her for the website so I could look it up myself, she immediately realised that all she needed to do was to look it up on the internet which she then proceeded to do. So perhaps with a little bit more training I would give this hotel a higher rating.

Room Tip: The lake view room although a bit expensive are great. However, these rooms are noisy with the wind...

Location - stunning over looking lake Geneva.
Rooms - clean, new and functional.
Breakfast - good spread of food to suit most tastes ( continental, partial English)
Improvements need - Wi fi auto log out function after perhaps 30 mins, building work close to rear rooms but this will end soon, strange car parking system.

General : In versoix so that's a 15 minute train ride from Geneva main station. You can get free travel pass for all Geneva public transport so getting the trains which are every 15 mins, bit less on Sunday's is no problem. These are good Swiss trains. If you were in Geneva itself on the lake, this would cost treble per night Little station is 50 yards behind hotel.

Good points: excellent maid and towel change daily. Smart trendy rooms with window seating overlooking the lake. Part of a small complex with an outstanding supermarket, more like a Deli, below it, a chocolate themed cafe beside it, chemist etc. Nice decked terrace. Comfy beds. Blackout external electric shutters. Good bathroom. Didn't eat there so cannot comment. Primarily as it was expensive, EVERYWHERE is lo Geneva, but not my sort of food. Off season hotel would be warm and comfortable. Strange electric plugs but reception can provide free adapter. Free WiFi in rooms, code from reception. Hair drier, Yves Rocher toiletries. Good as you will get I suspect for this price in Geneva district.

Not so good: there is no air conditioning despite what various hotel booking sites say. We checked. There is heating which you can vary by three degrees but cannot turn off. If you open the window for a good night's sleep, from six am onwards, aircraft and traffic noise will wake you up. If you need a cool bedroom in summer take ear plugs and open side window. Check Bill when you leave. There is city tax, for all hotels, of 6 Swiss francs per person per night. Same anywhere in Geneva but this hotel only tells you at the end. Initially they tried to charge up for breakfast which we did not have once in 4 days. They removed charge when we said this. Big flat screen television but as usual, when they say lots of European channels they mean every European channels except the UK where the offering is world service news only. No tea and coffee making facilities. The little station has an excellent shop which serves first rate coffee and tea. In the mornings you can pick up a fresh croissant as well. Ate at the Italian on main street one night, it was good food, friendly service and not too horrific on the purse. Can pick up all sorts of delights for picnics in the supermarket under Intel if on a budget.

Good days out. Train to montreaux. Stunning. Swim in the lake then golden train up to gstaad to see the alps and chocolate box scenery. Train fares not cheap but great trains. Geneva Plage. Lake side grass site with spotless 50 metre pool, children's pool, access to the lake, cafe, etc etc. Cheap entry. Jardin botanique. Free entry.

Stayed here one night. I selected this hotel because it is close to Geneva where I had two meetings the following day. Modern and clean hotel. Friendly staff. Things to improve: airconditioning system (environmentally friendly but it does not cool) complicated login for WIFI, and impossible to hang up two towels in bathroom. Breakfast is so so and quit expensive. Last but not least I had to pay for parking.
