“Peace & Quiet in Natures Valley”
Reviewed 16 April 2014 via mobile

Stayed one night. Ground floor room was small (not much space around the bed) but adequate, the room also had a private outdoor space which was closed off from the other guests. Most of the other rooms had a similar arrangement from what I could see. The room had all of the usual conveniences but no bath.

The pool and the hot pool were welcome surprises, the breakfast was adequate. I spotted a Knysna Loerie (bird) while relaxing outside the unit, that made my day.

Staff were very helpful and went out of their way to accommodate our booking arrangements. WiFi was complimentary but patchy (understandable, since Natures Valley is somewhat off the beaten track).

Tranquillity lodge is next door to the supply store / pub and the track to the unspoilt beach. Do be aware of the small store in Natures Valley (next to the pub), the fire wood is exorbitantly expensive. There is a shopping complex on the Natures Valley side of Plett where supplies can be bought for ‘normal’ prices.

Wonderful and truly tranquil inn in a beautiful setting! My wife and I felt very well looked after by all the staff and particularly enjoyed the marvelous 3 course dinners (4 star chef on site!!) and opulent breakfasts!

Room Tip: We had the one down from honeymoon suite. Perfect.

We cut our "tranquil" experience short after being subjected to continual noise and dust from contractors working on the green swimming pool. The stagnant pool caused a mosquito infestation throughout the Lodge and we had no mosquito nets to protect us. Our room was so small we were under continual insect attack with no means of escape. Luckily our agents found us alternative accommodation. Be under no illusion Tranquil this is not . We suggest that if you do have the misfortune to stay here go to the pub next door in the evenings the reason being is that you will not get any peace at the Lodge until it closes anyway. If you can't beat them ....join them !
Just to finish we are not in the habit of reviewing hotels but the pictures on the web site are a gross misrepresentation of the actual facilities. The cost per square meter of the accommodation is on par with St Tropez just without the benefits of a sea view!

Room Tip: In all honesty stay on the N2 and keep going !

Hi Davila

Thank you so much for your review.

We enjoyed having you stay with us, we apologies for the inconvenience we are however currently undergoing some upgrades at the lodge and on the website.

We have placed mosquito repellent plugs in all rooms, and will take your review into consideration and look at what else we maybe able to do.

We would like to offer you a nights stay in a superior room and a 3 course dinner. We understand this will not make up for your experience but we would like to try.

Kind Regards
Misty & Jason

We stayed at the lodge after walking the otter trail with our adult children and it was just the place to catch our breath for the next adventure. What was nice about our rooms were the large private outside areas where we could dry out all our wet and dirty hiking gear. I also really enjoyed the hot pool, just what was needed for sore muscles, I spent a few hours there in the afternoon and early the next morning. We parked our Land Rover full of safari gear on the premises while on the trail and it was comforting to know that it was being well looked after. However the noise level of a party upstairs one night could have been turned down. Some people don't seem to understand the meaning of 'tranquility'!! i would love to go back again one day.

Room Tip: We were in the Fern and Coral rooms.

We stayed at Tranquility Lodge for 4 nights in Feb 2014 on our way from PE to Cape Town. It was absolutely perfect for what we wanted, a very comfortable base to relax, do some hiking and go to the beach.
The room has it's own separate area for sitting outside on, where we essentially relaxed after hiking. around Nature's Valley or kayaking on the Lagoon (Kayak's provided free of charge by Tranquility Lodge). We ate in the pub/restaurant next door on a couple of nights and only ate at the Lodge on our last night. We certainly wished that we had eaten at the Lodge for a few of the other nights after this, as the food on the special Sushi night was amazing. Although the pub food is also fine too.
There is also a hot tub (inside) and a small pool (outside - can't really swim in it), and the odd monkey that comes to visit :-)

Jason (the chef) and the other folk there were all very friendly and helpful in every way possible.

We came away thinking that we should come back and spend two weeks there next time (if we had the time)

The only downside was that our room was next to another where the person was snoring so load that you could probably hear him from the other end of the valley - not really the fault of the Lodge :-)

Room Tip: We stayed in the "Gecko" room - which was lovely

We stayed in the lodge's honeymoon suite the first few days of our honeymoon. The suite is beautiful; modern and spacious. Very friendly service. Staff gave us lots of privacy. Only negative is that it does not have any view of the sea; but one can hear it and its only a few minutes walk to the beech.

We had the luxury room. It was far too small given the price tag. Bedside lights scorch the skin if you are unlucky enough to make contact with them. Breakfast on the stingy side. Jason was a pleasant host, however. Restaurant next door served great food!
