This beautiful little cafe is in a really small town without alot else going on. We were looking for somewhere for coffee on a wet windy afternoon passing through Louisburgh. A barman in a pub in the town directed us to Louisburgh 74. I had the avocado salad and carrot cake - both amazing. It's really cosy and family friendly and well worth stopping at if you're passing through Connemara!

Found this place by accident when we were driving through Louisburgh.
In spite of 20 ladies on bikes that had stopped to dry, we were quickly seated at a nice and clean table.
We had lunch, I took shrimps on freshly baked brown bread,( generous amount of shrimps) others had wraps. Everything well prepared and served with a smile.
Had nice coffee and crumbles afterwards...yummi.
I would recommed this place, it's nice and the girls that runs it are charming.
Prices are fair

OMG, you'll know when you walk through the door that this is where you'll get your elevensis hit!!!! Its hard to choose because of the vast array of delectable homemade pastries and cakes. The coffee was top class and the staff, well, you just couldn't fault them, they were just soo lovely and helpful. We were there with my mam, and two kids, who all got looked after really well!! Very impressed.

Stopped at here on way from Clifton to Westport via scenic R335. It is surprisingly spacious and modern with a nice relaxed atmosphere. Some very nice touches like the comfy couches either side of the fireplace, nice displays of books to browse as well as well presented local arts & crafts. A lovely selection of freshly baked scones, cakes etc on display just inside the door. The waitress was very pleasant and efficient and made us feel welcome. I ordered the warm chicken ciabatta and it was just so good - very generous delicious filling topped with toasted cheese & served with lovely fresh salad. My husband had the chicken curry and it really bore no resemblance to what is normally passed off as curry in so many Irish cafes, this was real tasty authentic curry made with fresh ingredients not out of a can !!. And they serve real Cappuccino too. A really first class establishment you would be lucky to find in a major city - and surprisingly here it is in the small country town of Louisburgh in County Mayo and its also very reasonably priced.
So glad we moved on from the impersonal touristy Clifton. My advice is take the N59 from Clifton to Lennane then the R335 from Lennane through stunning countryside to this gem in Louisburgh and then continue on to the award winning town of Westport as we did. The scenery is truly breathtaking and the quality of food, hospitality and service in general in this part of the country is far superior to that on offer in tourist weary Clifton.
