Stayed at Royal Orchid Beach Resort Jan 28 - Feb 2, 2014, reservation was for a 5 star resort with two beds as I was travelling with my daughter. ALL the cushions in the resort lobby had many visible stains on the fabric. After confirming at check in that I needed two beds we were taken to a room with a single king mattress in a solid wood frame, clerk tried to explain how by using two sets of sheets they would make two beds out of one mattress, Really?? Taken to a second, lesser quality, room and when my daughter took a shower she experienced muddy water coming out of the shower and the bathroom tap, shower stall brown from water, bath mat brown from feet, towel stained brown, WOW! Clerk & maintenance come to room and run water till it is yellowish, all okay now, NOT! Demand another room, all they have is a suite, hideabed had a severely stained 1 inch thick mattress, bring in a roll a bed. Manager spoken to next morning and assured us this was a 5 star resort & we could stay in suite if NEW two bed room was not okay, checked & decided not to move to fourth room, get static from desk clerk saying we would have to pay more, uh NO!, call manager again, okay to stay in suite, clerk says we are very lucky to stay in suite? Bathroom marble cracked & stained, had to ask for a clean bathmat each day. What is it with a 5 Star resort that charges for WiFi, made up half our room cost for the stay & they only give ONE bottle of drinking water the first night then charge for every bottle after that??? Did you see the water??? Resort had nice pool and grounds but every afternoon they turned the sprinklers on and a strong smell of manure wafted through the air, that and the smell of sewage in the bathrooms at night took away from the ambience. Tried room service second night, no answer, called later, told they were too busy?? Called later and told they might not have my selection, did not call back, called them back and they did have my selection. Staff was helpful with a medical issue but the over all experience was not that of a 5 star. Location was 25 minutes from airport and nearest town/city, so if you want night life go closer to northern or central Goa/ Panaji. If you are happy with a 3.5 star, then this is your resort location.

Room Tip: Look for room overlooking the grounds to the west on top floor, make sure you confirm, in writing, y...

We spent the last few days at the Royal Orchid, Goa. This was our little girl's first outdoor trip and she enjoyed herself at the beautiful resort. It's the perfect place for the whole family. But the most amazing view was of the white sand and the clear blue water. My little one couldn't get enough of that. Also thanks to the entire staff for making this a memorable trip

We stayed in Royal Orchid Goa in Jan. and it was a wonderful experience.
Have stayed in Royal Orchid earlier in Shimoga, Bangalore and now was in Goa.

The rooms are good, not that spacious. The staff is courteous and very helpful. The food is good and proximity to beach makes it the best place.

We had a delightful stay.
Thankyou team for making our stay a memorable one !!

A five star hotel in India is less than a five star in Europe og the US. I would give this hotel 4 star, - maybe. That said, - it is still one of the nicer hotels I have stayed in.

I was given room 118 at the end the structure towards the sea with stunning views and a nice shaded veranda. Outside there were lush gardens, just the place for the wedding seremony I attended.

On the other hand you should avoid room 205 that was given to my son. There is honking and use of whistle for the taxis outside almost all night. The room is better suited for guests who have passed away.

There is a nice pool with a bar close to the reception. Watersports may cause noise!

The lighting in the room was not sufficient, and especially in the bathroom. Difficult for a lady to put on her «warmask» (maskara). Next to the loo there was a hose to use in the toilette in case your blowels make a splash. (It happend to me in India for a few days).

The bed was nice and i slept well, though the bed was a somehat too short for my frame.

The breakfast room is located above the reception and is without comparison the nicest I have visited. The air inside is fresh and not tainted with the smell of food. The coffe here actually tastes like coffee, though not quite Starbuck style.

I am in constant need of Internet, but every day will put you back RS 600. Internet should be free, - at least in hotels of this pricerange. I stayed in 3 different hotels in Goa. 2 had free Internet!

This is the kind of hotel that is not absolutely perfect, - but so nice that you would definitely want to come back. The staff is well trained and extremely helpful and polite. The beach is close by. Security appears strict, but I would not depend on it if you are a kidnap target.

Room Tip: #118 is probably the best and #205 are the worst, - noicewise

Very basic - not a 'resort hotel' as advertised. Room was filthy - after complaining cleaner came and shovelled up half a dustpan full of dirt from room that had apparently been cleaned. Shower dirty with soap, shower gel splashes and sand and dirt in the tray. Pillows yellow and filthy. Duvet had stain the size of a dinner plate covered in black mould. Bedding stained and crumpled - muddy stains in the bed and don't think it had been changed. Even the fresh bedding looked dirty. The staff did try and help but could not even find a clean double sheet - the best they could do was to find two single sheets. I could go on. In short, the worst hotel we have ever stayed in.

We have recently come back from a Wedding at Royal Orchid in Goa. Its a nice cozy property by the beach. We had good time in the pool which was quite a Romantic venue in the Evenings. Housekeeping was a bit slow but otherwise we had a great stay and would certainly come back.
