For 10 ringit more I got a room facing over the valley with a beautiful view of Tenom settled below. It is high on a hill and for those without a car it's not far to walk to town. Coming back it's one long curve up a steep hill and at night its best to take a torch as the footpath can be next to a deep water gutter. At the back is a trail leading to the Murut tribal village. It is a new village. There is a small waterfall near there village which used to have raffelsia flowers. The Murat cleared the trees for a garden. The hotel gardeners came after me to guide the way as he said some tourists had got lost 3 years ago. The orangutang is still alive and well in this part. One was seen a few days ago. They roam and don't stay in an area long.
