“Lovely Little Hotel”
Reviewed 18 July 2014

Just come back from this hotel today. The Standard and service was excellent. The bedroom was spacious and very clean, the breakfasts were very good in fact better than some 4* hotels I have stayed in! Also very handy for getting to Pickering, Scarborough and Whitby only few miles to Scarborough. Will be going again in the future.

visited the 3 star hotel in may 2014.
nice little hotel, 3 star, does what it says on the rating, nothing special, just a nice little quiet hotel, food was a decent standard. we had two nights with bed and breakfast. only a short drive to scarborough. so well positioned for a beach type holiday.

Room Tip: nice views wherever you stay

I was surprisingly really pleased with the standard's and customer Service offered by this hotel. We had five rooms booked over a weekend to attend a wedding Close to this location.

Breakfast was fabulous, a great start to the what was to become a long day. The rooms were spacious, clean, comfortable with hot water that worked on demand and good value for money.

The bar was very comfortable and the staff extremely helpful and keen to please. I would recommend.

Firstly, this is a fantastic location for a country house hotel. The grounds are fantastic, and it is a superb location close to Scarborough (4 miles) yet in a quiet, idyllic village within very close reach of stunning countryside. There is no doubt the hotel has perhaps seen better days in the past, but it is equally clear that the new management team (who have only been in place for a few weeks) have great plans; already they have invested in the fabric of the building and created a friendly, warm and relaxed environment. Rome wasn't built in a day, and when the renovations are complete this hotel will undoubtedly be one of the best in the area. Ignore the negative comments; these seem to be unfair and unjustified. I am really looking forward to coming back in a few months time to see the improvements. Give it a try!

There are clear signs that this rather neglected hotel is being brought up to date by someone who clearly knows the business. Great value and a very comfortable stay, with great service and a homely, comfortable atmosphere. Easy to pick fault if you have a negative attitude, but a real delight if you like character and individuality.

As a two family group, we stayed here overnight and used the hotel as a base from which to enjoy dalby forest. The young man on reception when we arrived was most helpful as he changed our room allocation from a double on the upper floor to a twin room on the ground floor. In retrospect, this was a bad move as we were kept awake in the night by an elderly gentlemen above us walking around and having his TV on very loud. Also the curtains were not very thick and the light streamed through from day break. However the room was clean and beds very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and the shower worked well with plenty of hot water.

Our breakfast was adequate and service good.

It is a lovely setting and just needs a little TLC to update the rooms.

I would stay here again but do feel, in the present condition it is overpriced.

Room Tip: if you are allocated a room in the block opposite the main hotel, make sure you have an upstairs roo...

Very poor cleanliness in the bathroom staff were very rude and aggressive, extortionate prices for standard room which was very outdated and needed a lick of paint. Manager not taking responsibility for the poor customer service him and his staff are providing. Would not recommend entertaining the hotel.

This review is very unfair and as the people in question still owe us money as they refused to settle their account we have had to report them to trip advisor
