Just back from a 2 night stay at The Old Vicarage, West Witton and have to say what a top B&B! Very well located for touring the Dales, absolutely spotless, lovely comfy bed and wonderfully friendly hosts. The breakfasts were generous (have to admit I left very little) and cooked beautifully. Lovely to be able to come and go as you please, a gorgeous guest lounge to relax in and plenty of reading matter to digest. We walked to the Wensleydale Heiffer for an evening meal which was outstanding and the second evening we drove to The George & Dragon at Aysgarth both busy restaurants so pre booking recommended. This B&B is very good quality, giving excellent value for money and we will definitely be making a return visit!

Visited The Old Vicarage for a 2 night stay in July as we were in the area for a wedding. Guests were lovely and accommodating, room was clean, albeit on the small side, and bed was large and comfortable. We were able to come and go as we liked with front door key access, which was what we needed with going to a wedding. The breakfast was delicious and hosts in the morning were superb. I would highly recommend this B&B for a lovely weekend stay in North Yorkshire, with great access to Forbidden Corner and other North Yorkshire sites. If we stayed again we would request (if available) the room with the Four Poster Bed, as that looked like a lovely room!

The Old Vicarage was centrally located to the castle sites we were visiting. We were a bit concerned about its location on the main street running through West Witton, needlessly as even on the street side of the building there was no traffic noise at night. We slept peacefully and awoke to views of the Yorkshire Dales. Breakfast started with fresh fruits, yogurt and cereals followed by a broad selection of hot breakfast items although we chose the full English – grilled, not fried! – which always carries us through our day. My sister expressed her love of kiwi, and it magically appeared the second day we were there. Grant and Barbara were lovely hosts and made us feel most welcome, and we would recommend the Old Vicarage if you are visiting Wensleydale.

There isn't much to say about this B&B that hasn't been said before but here goes, welcoming hosts Barbara and Grant, we were in room 4, with enormous comfortable 4 poster bed - hardly knew that my wife was in the same bed ;)

so :-

great Wensleydale location - tick
plentiful off road parking - tick
friendly welcome with tea and cake - tick
great room - 2 armchairs and an enormous bed - tick
quiet room views front and back - tick
less than 10 mins walk to the Wensleydale Heifer for the early bird menu - tick
great choices for breakfast - tick
the best cooked breakfast ever - grilled not fried - worth a double tick
and working wifi - tick
and at the time as we booked a free bottle of wine - can't be bad

for any future excursions into Wensleydale - this is our B&B of choice and will book directly with them to check availability

it was a pleasure to stay there

Room Tip: we had room 4 great size with 2 views

Lovely location, great views.

We arrived early one day for a wedding in the local area and then were out all day so didn't get to enjoy the place as much as we'd have liked to.
Fabulous breakfast (if a little early for post wedding!) - good quality and lots of choice.
Very good for the price.

We were welcomed with tea and home made cake and a roaring fire. Bedroom comfortable with views across valley. Breakfast was good as well, with lots of choice. The owners were very friendly and offered lots of information on the area.

We cannot praise this place highly enough !
The owners are just lovely people, not forgetting their daughter of course who was equally lovely!
They couldn't be any more helpful and welcomed us to their home and made us feel like old friends.
The whole place is decorated to a high standard, our room ( 4 ) was fantastic. Lovely views across the dales, nice comfy bed and wow what a bed, four poster and really big ! Nice en suite with shower, everything works as it's should and shower / water is hot .
What we liked is that we able to come and go as we pleased and all the little things like wine in our room, sweets in the guest lounge just gives it that homely feel.
Breakfast was plentiful with cereals fresh fruit yoghurt and juice etc. the full English is recommended as is the scrambled eggs.
Truely a really nice place to stay in 'Gods own country'
Can't wait to find a reason to go back !
