We spent two nights here on May bank holiday at a treat for Kats Birthday.
Wanting to just relax for a couple of night this really was the perfect get away. We had the Elder yurt which is kitted out with all you need for a weekend glamping including a wood burner to keep you warm on an evening.
Each yurt comes with a wood fired hot tub to soak and take in the views off the stunning valley over to Castle Bolton. It reallys worth paying the optional extra for Tim to have the tub nice and hot for when we arrived.
Perfectly located to explore the local area including Layburn, Aysgarth and Hawes it's a great location to place yourself to explore the dales, knowing you have a bit of tranquilty for the evening after a hard day's hiking or exploring.
We arrived early and had a bite to eat at berry’s which was really good food and reasonably priced.
We were then taken to the yurt and was blown away by the views. The yurt was really pretty inside and had everything you needed and has been really well thought out. We had booked for a special occasion as it was my birthday, my husband had contacted prior to our arrival to arrange some flowers and a cake which were there for us arriving which was lovely.
It was very peaceful and in the most beautiful setting. We had the most amazing couple of days away and will most certainly be back.
The location is great. Easily accessible and with good amenities with a farm shop on site. Tim showed us to our yurt - we booked Larch, the most hidden away - which we booked for our first wedding anniversary.
Larch sits on the corner of the site with views over the valley towards Bolton Castle and with some very friendly cows right at your feet. The yurt was well appointed with the basics, a comfy bed, a futon, kettle and all the little bits and bobs you'll need. It even came with two USB power points which I hadn't expected and even had excellent 4G service. My hopes of having a completely disconnected couple of days ended up falling through, but that was through my own lack of will power!!
My wife was most apprehensive about the shower (you get your own private shower and toilet), but it was her favourite part of the trip! Open the doors facing the valley and jump into a lovely warm shower; she loved it!
The hot tub was what sold it to us. It's a wood fired tub which means it'll take a little while to heat up. We knew this and Tim gave us good instructions on how to get it hot. Sadly, we didn't manage to get it quite as hot as we'd have liked on the first night and only had a super-quick dip before we had to get out. Tim steered us with a bit more guidance the next morning (turns out, LOTS of wood in one go is the key - don't be a tight fisted Yorkshireman when it comes to fuelling your hot top!) and before long we were wallowing in it again and loved it. The wood situation was one of our two gripes. It comes with a big basket of logs ready for you to chop and use as you need. But, we found it wasn't quite enough for the hot tub AND the log burner in the yurt. It got down to 3 degrees on our first night outside so we definitely needed the wood. Luckily, the farm shop sells more at a reasonable price and all in all, it was relatively inexpensive for the wood we needed over our two night stay.
The other gripe was that the instructions on the website say there's a coolbox provided but you'll need to bring your own ice pack type things. No problem, we did that and then realised there was nowhere to freeze them once we got there. There's ice available from the shop, again at a very reasonable £1 for a bag that lasts a day. It just seemed like one of the things that could have just been included when we got there.
But by no means did either of these things put us off, we had an amazing time! We absolutely loved listening to the owls late at night, the dawn chorus and seeing the stars we never get to see living in the city. We loved BBQing on the deck and just enjoyed a more relaxed pace for a few days. It was an absolute treat and we will certainly be back very soon for some more RnR.
We stayed at Easter and what a fantastic experience. Sat in the hot tub in the snow was great.definitley recommend this place friendly helpful staff who go above and beyond well worth the trip.
Me and my wife stayed here for our wedding anniversary. We wanted to get away from everyday life and this place was exactly what we needed nice and secluded but not too much. The farm shop on site was lovely and the staff were all really friendly. The hot tub was amazing took some getting used to but it was part of the fun and the yurt it's self was immaculate, really comfortable and cosy. Finally the view were breath taking there was a walk recommended by the site manager Tim where there was a little river which really made our first night all in all I would highly recommend
My family and I were very impressed with the view that the yurt has, is a breathtaking view.
The Yurt was very spacious and very impressive almost everything you need is available for you in the tent.
Tim was very helpful too at our arrival, he showed us around and explained to us how things work.
We would come again but in summer as during our stay, the night is very cold!
From the minute we arrived to departing we felt extremely welcome by Tim and all the staff at the farm. The yurts were beyond our expectation and the perfect get away in to the peace and quiet of the countryside we needed, with the added bonus of the hot tub to make it awonderful stay. We will definitly be returning
