Enormous plots with small tree clad hedges for separation and privacy. Facilities excellent though park at nearest area if you need the toilet at night. The lounge is a little bare, a TV would be nice especially in the cooler months when the fireplace makes everything so cosy inside. The owners are very helpful and we felt very safe leaving our caravan there while we were away on a boat trip for 7 days.

Room Tip: Park away from the road and nearest to the facilities.

The best and cleanest facilities that we found anywhere in New Zealand. Very well maintained and run. Gloria and Seymour who run the site obviously have a great deal of motor home experience that they have built on.
The sites are in ordered rows, separated by hedges and with views over the top of the hedges to the mountains of Fiordland in the distance.
Stock up before arrival as there is no shop worth using in Manapouri. The nearest supermarket is in Te Anau.
The owners go out of their way to be as helpful as possible including arranging a tour to Doubtful Sound with a bus pick up from the site.

We are 5 months into a two year South Island holiday, we are travelling in a 5th Wheeler & spend most nights at a DOC camp or a local caravan/holiday park. I would have to say the Manapouri Motorhome & Caravan Park is one of the best we have visited on our travels so far, so much so that rather than the usual 2-3 days, we stayed at the Park for 9 nights. Selwyn & Gloria run a great ship, everything is spic 'n span and the grounds are very well maintained, they obviously care very much for their business and rather than accusing Gloria of being nosey maybe the posters below should think about why she is interested. Have you seen the habits of some of your fellow travellers? I have and they can be downright disgusting. I bet the posters below would be the first to be calling on Gloria to clean any mess and then castigating her for not having a clean amenities block.

Back to the park- there are good sturdy wooden picnic tables placed at regular intervals around the sites. There's plenty of space on the grass sites, or gravel if you prefer, and various options available depending on whether you're wanting power or not. The amenities block is fabulous, large lounge & kitchen, nicely appointed toilet & shower ensuites & near new washing machines & dryers. Everything is spacious, the clothes lines are fantastic and have their own large hedge enclosed lawn (who ever thought I'd be extolling the virtues of a clothes line, but when you're on the road these small things mean a lot) Water is available on most sites & the dump station is easily accessible from small to very large vehicles. Highly recommended!

Good clean quiet site with good facilities but hostess was odd and it seemed every time we used the block to shower, use the toilet, cook or do our washing , Gloria appeared to check on us as if she didn't trust us!! I'm sure she is proud of her new facilities and wants to protect them, I get this, but there are ways and means but stalking guests is just disconcerting and I know other guests at the time felt the same. If she didn't come to the block, she watched from a window of her private house!!!!!!!!

We would stay again as a functional place to sleep, can't say we enjoyed the place - it served its purpose though..

Two halves to this review. The site is magnificent, amenities are new and immaculate, lovely showers, good laundry kit, well equipped kitchen and warm lounge and dining area. Nice quiet setting, beautiful sky at night. Amenity block would be better placed midway between pitches as quite a trek if taking a spot near perimeter, but that's a small point. Very fair rate for pitches, all looked great....................

However, behaviour of hostess (Gloria) is distinctly odd. She made a point of coming into the kitchen while we were cooking to silently open windows, was obviously monitoring us, walking through dining area while we were eating, and made a point of checking our children's activity in lounge. My son was disturbed by her rapping on the toilet door asking who was in there, noting that the toilet doors oddly have "locks" on the inside and outside which means they will always open.

Most odd of all, my wife chose to take a late night shower (11pm ish) as we had a 7.30am start on boat trip. Before she could take the shower there was a rapping on the door asking "What do you think you are doing using the bathroom at this hour?!". She then waited for my wife to exit the bathroom explaining that using the combined shower/toilet room was a fire risk and mustn't be used after 10pm. My wife was visibly unsettled on returning to the camper and we contemplated leaving that night but settled for locking all doors! I was then a little apprehensive going for my 6.30am shower!

Now getting to the end of a three week road trip in NZ and this site was a bit unique, but definitely not always in a good way. We would not really recommend this site and we moved on the next night.

This site is mainly for campervans and has limited pitches for tents. We camped there in a tent for six nights. The facilities are brand new and immaculate. There are ensuite style bathrooms as well as normal toilets in a large amenities block. The camp itself is wonderfully sheltered with many well planned hedges. Although you cannot see the lake, the view of the mountains is stunning. The lake is a minutes drive away in the car. The owners are very friendly and very helpful, they lit a fire for us in the communal lounge when when it got chilly.
