“Weekend with the neighbours”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

We went to the Windmills Boutique Hotel as some friends of ours were getting married there. We opted to hire the chalet, that way we were able to make a weekend of it and we shared with our neighbours (who were also invited to the wedding...) The chalet was lovely. Spacious, quiet, with the best thing being the jacuzzi. On Saturday we also took a walk down to the lake, which we could see from our chalet. We all loved the weekend away.

Room Tip: The chalets are much better than the hotel rooms, better value for money.

We had an awesome time at the lodge there for our team building. The staff were very friendly especially Loyd, he made our stay amazing. The lodges are in the park and away from the hotel activity which makes it more peaceful. The Jacuzzi is clean and facing the park so you can watch game (wildlife) whilst relaxing.

Room Tip: The lodges have more than enough privacy and Jacuzzi for an awesome stay

Our visit to the Windmills was part of my surprise Birthday present from my husband. Although they had a wedding on the day we arrived, which as you know can be very chaotic for the hosting hotel, the reception staff were helping and we had their undivided attention.

We stayed in the self catering cottages that boasts unique decor, fire place, lovely kitchen and the two major draw points: the outdoor Jacuzzi and amazing view. The cottages have been built with privacy and comfort in mind. The bathrooms are huge with both a shower and big bath. Another benefit about the cottages is that they are not too close to the main building so when they do have a wedding while you are there, you are in no way disturbed.

We managed to see one of the rooms attached to the hotel. They are small but sufficient if you are on business and staying over for the night. However, if you want to truly enjoy your experience at the Windmills I would then suggest you book one of the self catering cottages.

The service was outstanding. My husband had arranged with the staff that while we were out that they put rose petals on our bed which they did and dare I say even better than my husband could of. During the evening the hot water wasn’t working, within 10 minutes of a phone call they sent somebody to fix it (there was an air block in the gas pipes).

A big thank you to Charles, for his outstanding service and effort in making my Birthday weekend so special. Nothing was too much to ask for and he did it all with a smile on his face. Charles is a true gem to the hotel.

We will definitely be back again and consider the Windmills the perfect accommodation in the midlands.

Room Tip: We stayed in Duiker Deluxe Cottage - it has more privacy compared to the other cottages

We stayed in one of the self catering cottages with two small children. Such a beautiful experience! The cottages are beautifully decorated, with the most amazingly comfortable and huge beds. There is a jacuzzi on the deck and it is a very special experience to sit in the jacuzzi and gaze out into the veld. Needless to say the kids found the jacuzzi great fun too! The cottages are generally quiet and secluded although two are placed very close together. The road to the cottages is also a dirt track, so don't take a sports car.
The placing of the hotel is also great, as it is close to Nottingham Road and allows a great spot from which to explore the Midlands.

What a pleasant surprise! Apprehensive at first when we saw the road so close by.
We stayed in a self-catering unit with 3 bedrooms, each en suite, a beautiful albeit incomplete kitchen, a fireplace, outside braai on the deck and a jacuzzi. You can not really ask for more.
Our unit was brand new and clearly not 100% completed, however, ours and all the other self catering units look really stunning and well worth returning too.

We based our decision to book on the website, which describes itself as a boutique hotel. However, when we arrived the main building with the restaurant and the reception were new, but the hotel rooms are part of an old motel that backs onto a main road. You can even still park your car right outside your door and the rooms have just been given new furniture and a coat of paint. The staff were really demoralised and not friendly and they were not too surprised when we decided to check out, quite soon after we checked in. We found a real boutique hotel in Nottingham Road and forfeited our deposit. It was the right decision.

Newly opened resort, well situated to explore the midlands meander. the meander has scenic drives and great activities and shopping to suit all ages and budgets.
the chalets are well appointed, very tastefully decorated and luxurious, have the best quality crockery, appliances and linen. the units are bright airy and spacious. decks have a jacuzzi which you can relax in while absorbing the great views and the roaming wildlife the resort has to offer.
staff are friendly. the only downside about the unit is that it has no airconditioning and the lodges could do with their own swimming pool and jungle gym play area for kids since the hotel facilities a bit away from the lodges.
I would definetly recommend this resort to anyone looking for comfort and luxury, loved it!!
