You will not be disappointed here. We had Robin's Nest – a superbly fitted and furnished self catering unit view lovely views over the gardens and farmland. Meals are in the central dining room – dinners are a set menu but with a choice of 2 for the main course. We found the dining room a little formal – each couple have their own table – perhaps it is just our preference to be able to chat with the other guests. We were very fortunate to be the only guests during the following day so we had the whole place to ourselves – lovely walks on the estate, and the whole pool area for relaxing. This is indeed an excellent place to stay, and at R1100 per couple (2014 prices) superb value.

Stunning location with beautiful views. The food was delicious, plentiful and excellent value for money. G & J made us feel so welcome. We travelled with our 6 month old baby and nothing was too much trouble. We spent only 2 nights there - we were in SA for two and half weeks travelling around to very different spots and can honestly say that this accommodation was our favourite! Thank you again!

We were travelling from Johannesburg Airport to KZN to start an adventure holiday and booked one night at Dusk to Dawn to break the journey. How we regretted that we were only there for one night. We were made to feel at home from the word go, with a friendly welcome, a personal introduction to our beautiful rooms, immediately being given towels for the swimming pool. After an overnight flight from the UK and a long hot drive, a dip in the pretty swimming pool was most welcome. We had commented on the lovely roses in the garden, and when we returning from our swim we found a beautiful bowlful of roses in our rooms

We had booked dinner but had not expected such superb food. The whole meal was a delight, made even better by the attention to detail on the table setting. with fabulous modern china, beautiful glassware and flowers. The same standard was used for breakfast, which again was a delight to eat and very substantial.

We had booked two rooms, one a double and one for a single. Both were luxurious, with very comfortable beds, excellent bathrooms and quiet airconditioning. The views from the garden were beautiful, with quite a few birds around. We liked the hide by the lake.

If we travel to KZN again we will definately make a stop at Dusk to Dawn but for longer, one night was not enough to truly appreciate the farm and the landscape which desreved further investigation

We came for the night on our way to the Kruger and were extremely impressed with our accommodation and the service. The property is beautiful with plenty of animals and greenery and our cottage was lovely. The breakfast in the morning was also fantastic. Thank you to Gudrun and Johann for the fabulous stay :)
Ps - the dogs were adorable! We loved them!

Coming from the city and having visited and stayed on numerous farms of friends and family in South Africa, I was a bit sceptical when it came to actually holidaying on a working farm as a B&B guest. Also very sceptical of long bumpy dirt farm roads and potholes since I’m driving a small Volkswagen Golf with passengers and luggage.
But the luxury and accomodation we received at Dusk to Dawn well exceeded our expectations and to be honest, the 3 km gravel road was a breeze. We were well received by professional staff and later the owners Johnny and Gudrun came to introduce themselfves. I didn’t really know what to expect or what the accomodation would be like on a farm. Although the area was as pretty as a picture with red cattle and a few horses grazing on the evergreen grass I found our rooms to be quite luxurious and comfortable. As expected from a four star accomodation each room had a small fully stocked bar fridge, snacks, airconditioner, dstv and percale sheets and pillowcases and modern ensuite bathroom.
Please do yourself a favour and book dinner as this turned out to be clearly a highlight every evening. They had different options in their a la carte restaurant and every meal is excuisite with soft chamber and lounge music in the background and a huge wine selection.
If you don’t want to book dinner and rather eat in your room or on the lawn like a picnic they have a large variety of ready made meals and drinks that you can buy at the arts and curio shop.
We enjoyed our stay immensely and would definately go back this year. The owners and all staff are friendly and Johnny definately impressed wth his knowledge of the area’s history and vast bird life. I’m not much of a bird watcher myself, but i’m sure it’s a haven with their two bird watching hide outs by the dam. Thank you Johnny and Gudrun. This is my first review on tripadvisor or any other forum and I just had to register to tell everybody that they can surely make a trip out of it and give Dusk to Dawn a try in 2014. I was very happy there.

Ideally located between Jo’burg or Kuger and the sights of KwaZulu Natal, Dusk to Dawn is a beautiful farmstead well worth the drive up a dirt track road. Everything has been designed and finished with immaculate care, although the décor can be a little twee, as are the large number of notices with light-hearted or inspirational thoughts. Rooms are luxuriously finished and fairly spacious, and the bathrooms well equipped, although the shower in mine could do with upgrading. The garden, terrace and swimming pool area are a delight, as is the dining room and adjoining sitting area. It is a working farm though, so expect animal noises and smells which simply add to the charm! The outstanding feature is the food though and Gudrun’s dinner and breakfast are worth the trip on their own. Together with the warm welcome she and her family give, this is a guest house that could give many 5* hotels a good run for their money. Highly recommended for breaking a journey or a longer stay.
