“Mayfield is a hidden gem. 5 Stars all round.”
Reviewed 21 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

This is my third time to Coverack Village, but my first time staying at Mayfield, and wow it did not disappoint. Without hesitation this is my favorite place in Coverack to stay. My partner loved it as did my two doggies. It's in a lovely quiet spot at the top of the hill with a fabulous view out to the sea. Ann the housekeeper at the B&B down the road is lovely and she had left the bungalow spotlessly clean for our stay. The bungalow has a very practical layout and good outside space. The neighbours are lovely and the community spirit is so welcoming. Perfect for quiet relaxation and doggie friendly break.

“Fabulous, practical property in a great location with helpful owmers”
Reviewed 9 March 2015 for a stay in February 2015

This is the second time that we have stayed at Mayfield and we cannot recommend it highly enough. It is warm, comfy and extremely practical for a family of five with two dogs. The walks from the door around the cost path and inland are exhilarating in winter and the back porch and utility room are great to leave exhausted dogs. The beach is a mere stroll down the hill. We welcomed the excellent central heating and log burner when returning from our winter walks. The bathroom has a good shower and a heated towel rail. The lounge/kitchen/diner is all in one space and is a little compact but we enjoyed this cosiness and it is well equipped. The bedrooms are all generous with plenty of space for the children to play. A great find.

We had a perfect week in Coverack. It is a very beautiful village with a lovely beach and very good area for walking. Mayfield was excellent we had everything we need, the kitchen was well equiped, the bedrooms are very good and the whole cottage was clean and tidy. We really enjoyed the view from the terasse that was perfect.

“Coverack and renting Mayfield did not disappoint”

Our third year in Coverack and as relaxing as always; just a wonderful spot for chilling out, walking, friendly pub, good food and beach/water sports. Great places nearby to visit if you want a day out; we love St Ives and an evening at the Minnock Theatre is always a treat.

Our first stay at Mayfield and we were thrilled with the house, garden/decking and the stunning views. Mayfield's owner Mrs Reynolds was a pleasure to book with and Ann her neighbour in Coverack was welcoming and ready with our keys. The house has a lovely homely feel, well equipped, great parking (massive bonus in Coverack) and we loved our stay. Thank you for allowing our dog to stay with us (the U room was a great place for the dog to dry off after yet another swim!).

We will certainly return and recommend.

Liked best: The wonderful views and quiet.
Liked least: Telephone does not allow outbound calls. Suggest owners put in honesty box for guests using phone as Coverack has no mobile coverage and the phone box is in the main Cove. An answer phone would be useful

Mayfield was a very comfortable place to stay in this beautiful Cornish village. It was well equipped, everything worked as expected and it was clean and tidy. A real home from home. Coverack itself is a pretty village, with local shops and eateries, accessed down country lanes (not too narrow) and within easy reach of places like Falmouth with its boutiquey shopping and good restaurants. The view from the front terrace of Mayfield is stunning, overlooking the beach, and with no passing traffic, it's very quiet and peaceful.

“Rental disappointing, did not live up to expectations”

On arrival at the property the view and decking area are lovely, as already mentioned in previous reviews, however on entering the kitchen area, the internal decoration and cleanlines of the place let it down. There were copwebs all over the place and we had to go through with the hoover.

Paint was peeling of the walls, the blind was hanging off and on inspection of the kitchen appliances, the fridge door was hanging on by one hinge, with the milk and drink compartments broken inside. The main oven on the cooker did not work either and to top it all the kettle stopped working during our stay.

The bedrrooms are spacious but the bed linen did not smell fresh but of stale sweat, so once we had washed the kitchen tops and floor, we had to was the bed linen through. Plug sockets in two rooms were hanging off the walls so not very safe either for kids.

The living area is quite small and not much room to strech out in the evenings, the sofa's were not very clean and had food stains on them. We found a chewed up dog ball underneath one of them.

The place could be so much better with a proper clean through and lick of paint, not to mention giving the windows a clean as they were very dirty too.

On a positive note Ann at Fernleigh was very friendly and bought a new kettle to replace the broken one very quickly.

I am very sorry to hear this, especially as you didn't mention anything to us during your stay or afterwards. Had you done so we would have worked very hard to have sorted anything. Any and all feedback is always welcomed even more so when you provide opportunity for remedial action to be taken.

Return trip to this lovely, well-appointed cottage. Set back above the village with spectacular views yet with it's own secluded charm.
The heating was on - good idea for January! and the wood burner provided an extra, cosy atmosphere. Lovely fresh, bright bedrooms, great functioning and easy to manage kitchen with an open living room.
I always forget to pack towels but we coped.
Good food at The Fat Mackerel - BYO and book for evenings, as with The Paris Pub.
Local shop - Brenda's, where you can get everything.
High-light - a dolphin and her calk leaping and playing in the bay.
