I stayed for 3 nights and thought Hotel Santo was a well kept and characterful option for those staying on Santo who don't want to be cut off in a remote resort. It is handily situated in the middle of Luganville yet was peaceful and with a beautifully kept garden area. My none a/c garden room was good value and the restaurant did a great pizza. My room was not the most modern but, as another reviewer points out, this is the old lady of the main street and the room was clean, comfy and well equipped for the price.

Room Tip: If you are not fussed about A/C the garden rooms with fans are great value and likely to get less st...

Despite being a little tired and dated, this is still a great place to stay. The rooms are large and clean, the staff are friendly, and the food was excellent. (I had the best scrambled eggs this side of the equator...) The location can't be better, right on the main street. The pool and outdoor area are nice, but are screaming out for a facelift and some new furniture.
overall, a really nice experience, at a reasonable price

The old lady of Luganville's Main Street - you really should try it. Cool dark and aging entrance lounge opens up to an oasis of quietness as you enter the garden courtyard. The rooms are clean and absolutely fine - aircon/fans/fridge....showers are really only hot in the evening after the water has heated by solar panels.
Breakfast basic but fine.....friendly staff - helpful and pleasant and as mentioned by most reviewers - very handy to the dive place across the road. A good Chinese - or was it Korean? supermarket just a hop, step and jump away and if it is closed a Chinese store just across the road. Handy for everything and nice sleepable bed - not too hard! - I'd go back!

Room Tip: This is a favourite place for divers....who in the evening often sit around outside chatting about t...

This was my third visit to Luganville, but my first time at the Hotel Santo. My first choice was Deco-Stop, but this was full. Since I was diving with Allan Power, it made sense to stay just across the road from his dive facility. It is no secret that this hotel is old, there are no room phones or TV...but the aircon and fans worked fine, the rooms were clean and the staff friendly. The wifi password for a weeks connection was a waste of time as the internet hardly ever worked and when it did it would take ages just to get a few emails. Food was almost as slow at the restaurant which was amazing considering there were seldom any customers. The location was within walking distance to plenty of other food options. I would happily stay here again if I come back diving.

Room Tip: Garden/pool facing rooms are the quietest.

We recently stayed here for a few day while we were diving the USS Coolidge with Allan Power. It was a great hotel and is right across the street from the dive shop, which makes it super easy to run back to your room for lunch. The hotel also has a dive gear locker and wash area and Allan dropped us and our gear off there. The hotel is clean and well run and the on premises resturant serves good food. Lacated right on the main street in town, you are close to the other resturants, shops, etc.

Room Tip: Rooms in the back are quieter and have clothes lines

First time to Santo for us, but 3rd time to Vanuatu, we were more than happy to experience the 60's -70's charm of an 'old school' hotel in Santo. It was perfect for our needs. We were there in a VERY hot spell in March '12, and our basic but clean room was an A/C oasis to come back to, throughout the day, and to get a good night's sleep. The staff were great, of course. You need about a day to read the newspaper clippings, view the masks, & the kustom exhibits in the foyer etc. This joint has nothing happening... in a great way! Dark & cool, helpful staff, would suggest perhaps you don't eat here, we checked the menu & felt it was over-priced. But full points to a sweet old joint that I would def. come back to (a fave hang-out of old ABC journo's of the SP)

Room Tip: We were upstairs, thought I had the room # but not, anything facing the street will be fine

I love diving and so often visit Santo. Staying at hotel Santo whenever I am at Santo has never been a trouble for me. I have put up at this place for thrice and have found it good all these times. The place is good for cleaning and drying your snorkeling equipment. The staffs are friendly and efficient with good mannerisms. They take efforts to ensure that your needs are met while staying at this place. The breakfast provided for free at this hotel is nice. The hotel has a lovely pool with a relaxing space around. The hotel offers only basic facilities. But it is a reasonable place to stay.
