We were revisiting this restaurant, after quite a few years due to moving away. The welcome was friendly as we remembered and as it was the first Saturday after New Year the decorations were lovely, although 'Merry Christmas' By Slade being played twice during dinner was a little odd.
We are disappointed with our meal and felt it wasn't anything to write home about. The soup was very under seasoned, the coddled egg was... not cooked properly.
The main course was very poor. The rack of lamb was cold and although asked to be served pink, was actually 'cooked, and the duck, although perfectly cooked was missing vegetables. In fact, it lacked anything on the plate other than sliced duck breast and an orange. We were told 'vegetables wont be long'... Hmmmm to me, that means they have forgotten to cook them, as the rest of the mains didn't require them. So as I waited, and the other guests started, I actually had to eat half the duck or it would have been very cold. Asking a second waitress where the veggies were, we were told they were 'coming'.
When they did arrive, it was a dish of about 8 halved green beans.... and a pile of mixed veg in a cheese sauce. Not exactly the veg I would have expected with duck breast.
Such a shame.
For the price, we were disappointed.
