Visited the Stables for Sunday lunch on Jan 12th. Beautiful "olde worlde" atmosphere with roaring fire and really good atmosphere. The comprehensive menu housed everything you could wish for and I opted for the chicken liver pate which was exquisite, soup, salmon and the Haggis neeps and tatties are also a must. A choice of roasts were available being pork, chicken, lamb and beef and not being quite able to make my mind up the waitress suggested that I had a "mixup" which involved three types of roast. Dinner was served with huge Yorkshire puds, a large selection of veg and boats of gravy to die for, the coup de gras being the pot of mushy peas and separate bowl of pork crackling. The choice of sweets was great with jam roly poly and bannoffee pie etc which I refused on account of being well satisfied at what I had already consumed. The service was superb and the staff very friendly. Would highly recommend for Sunday lunch and meals through the week and early evening. Visiting on a Sunday is a MUST but booking is essential. Can,t wait to go back!!
