“Very welcoming”
Reviewed 15 February 2014

Ate here on a cold wet Wednesday lunchtime, welcome very warm & friendly. I ordered BLT on white bread, my sister a wrap & mother mince & dumplings. We were informed they had no wraps & the lady returned later to tell me they had no white sliced bread. Orders changed, food arrived pretty quickly & was very nice, but 2 out of 3 sandwich/wrap offerings on a lunchtime not available, not very good.

“Sunday lunch ”
Reviewed 2 February 2014 via mobile

We called here impromptu and probably should have booked as it was very busy, although the very helpful waitress ensured we were seated asap. We went straight to the carvery where there is an excellent choice of 4 roasts and a vast amount of vegetables, potatoes and huge Yorkshire puddings, of which you can help yourself, the only reason I haven't scored this venue a four is because of the roast beef, it was not able to be carved into slices as it was so over done and just crumbled into bits, even though I asked for it to be sliced no other beef was offered and had to settle for the pork. All in all though I cannot fault the food it was very traditional and tasty although could have been hotter. Staff good and decent atmosphere.

“hard to beat for value”
Reviewed 2 February 2014

went here with my husband midweek , not to busy so no issues getting booked , husband went all out and tried the mixed grill I had the gammon. well what can I say other than I am so pleased we were hungry portions were large unfortunately I am not a massive eater so could not manage a starter or pudding along with my main however the choice on the menu looked very good. service was ok, nice pleasant staff, drinks ok prices same as any other pub we have been to , I have also found out that they take part in tastecard so next time I will use the card and get 50% off my meal but I will be back with or without it

The lunch menu offered 2 for £10 on a selection of everyday dishes, liver and onions, mince and dumpling, steak pie etc. good value for money and surroundings and service ok. Nothing wrong with it - just pretty average
