Description: The Grey Horse pub Old Penshaw Village. A traditional village pub with a real open log fire for the winter months and loads of character.Serving excellent home cooked food.

Just visited The Grey Horse for the first time, it is a village pub in Penshaw and we were greeted in a friendly and welcoming manner from the bar and waiting staff. We were quickly seated and our order of Sunday roasts placed. The food arrived promptly and was piping hot, tasty a decent sized portion with extra homemade gravy, my only gripe may be an extra roast potato and maybe an additional vegetable would be nice but considering the price of £6.95 there is no room for complaint. If you want a modern clean cut pub this is not it is a rustic village pub, however if you want good honest tasty food and a friendly welcome well you are in for a treat.

Thanks for taking the time to review us. We are always looking for ways to improve. Next time you are in for Sunday dinner we'll be happy to give you extra roasts. We do change our choice of veg depending on the season however turnip is a very popular veg with our Sunday diners. Once again thanks for the review. Regards Jimmy & Jacq

What's really amazing is the fact that I've lived in the area for over 20 years and have never been to this pub before. We went for this weeks pub lunch on Tuesday and really enjoyed everything about the place. There was only us having our meal and a few locals at the bar which meant we had excellent service. The homemade food was delicious with decent portions and at a very reasonable price. I would certainly recommend this place for people wishing to have a quiet lunch with excellent food and beer. Top marks.
