We booked this chambre d'hote (bed and breakfast to us) on the France Voyage website. We were travelling around the area and so stayed in a few places. La Commanderie is a large country manor stuffed with antiques and beautiful paintings. In fairness the rooms are basic but extremely quaint and most importantly for me very CLEAN. If you are looking for a tv or hairdryer in room then this is not the place for you. However if you are looking for a genuine taste of France and a bit of fun then this certainly is the spot. Jeroem the owner is Dutch and like many of his Dutch guests he speaks English perfectly. He is to say the least a real character and we spent a couple of very late nights in his delightful company.
Most of the guests are Dutch and return year after year to enjoy the beautiful Loire Valley and as some have suggested to see their old friend Jeroem. Breakfast was very good and was served on the terrace or in a lovely dining room depending on the weather. Jeroem cooks an evening meal for a reasonable 25 euro including wine and though we didn't avail of this (we were late back both evenings) other guests said it was excellent. This is a quiet and relaxing spot suitable for a couple or families or solo guests (people seem to congregate in the evening on the terrace for a quiet late night drink so the company is good). We would definitely return to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere of La Commanderie!
