A memorable visit to " Le Mesangeau " in the heart of Anjou-Loire, a time to re-connect with our passionate hosts Brigitte et Gerard who entertain and inform us at breakfast with their deep knowledge of the region's history, advice on visits to the local vintners or to our delight, and to satisfy our curiosity, a visit to their private garage, home to a superb collection of cars dating from the early 1900’s, Exquisite !

Room Tip: All beautiful yet very different and very true to the photographs in their websites.

We had a great two nights here albeit after some difficulty finding the place. On arrival it was a warm autumn evening so drinks on the front verandah were a must for the assembled party of six, poor Gerard, he doesn't drink. This was followed by a dignified dinner in the spacious dining room which was full of typical French period furniture. Plenty to eat beautifully prepared by Brigitte and plenty of the local vintage to wash it down. We enjoyed listening to our host, I'm convinced he was the voice tutor to David Suchet in his Poirot role.

We had a leisurely stroll around the grounds, plenty of wild life. Our room in the attic was just right, very clean and the wifi had a good signal. We ate out the second evening after a good exploration of the vineyards.

All in all a most enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: The attic is just as good as the other rooms but at a lower price.

We enjoyed a glass of wine with Brigitte and Gerard - great hosts. This is one of the few chateaus where the rooms were heated. The grounds were lovely as was our room. The other rooms were also great and the whole facility has been upgraded with modern fixtures and such.

Stayed for two nights and would have loved to stay longer, our room was beautifully furnished and very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and so were the local restaurants. The manoir is slightly outside the village of Drain and surrounded by woods and gardens, at night we listened to the owls hooting and it was incredibly peaceful. Make sure you ask to see the amazing collection of veteran motor cars.

Stayed one night in July with my husband and young twins. We had a wonderful experience. Gerard was an amazing host and welcomed us warmly into his home. He allowed my young children to see his collection of old cars and they were allowed to sit in each of them which they found really thrilling. The chateau is full of character and there are some amazing artworks adorning the walls painted by Gerard's Father. We would definitely stay again if we were passing that way. We really loved it and would highly recommend anyone to visit.

Room Tip: All rooms wonderful I am sure. We stayed in the family suite.

I visited for 2 days with my wife, everything said before is absolutely correct, Brigitte and Gerard change nothing, you have a lovely house, your service, welcome, attitude, wit, conversation, humour, are 'par excellance!'. The meal and your company were a joy which Jo and I really enjoyed and hope that we can return. Your local knowledge was useful especially regarding the local vineyards/caves - each time a cork is pulled we will remember - Many Thanks
The Birthday candles in the claffuti were a special touch
Note to Trip Advisor; how can a venue that has maximum scores from everyone rate only 4&1/2 in the main heading?
