“Great location, very helpful & friendly owners”
Reviewed 14 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Thank you Bill & Diane for letting us stay in your lovely, well-equipped & comfortable cottage. We all felt very at home here and loved the fact that you were on hand to give us tips on where to go and what to drink!

The children loved to run around the gardens and were constantly in the pool. We went on some great excursions to Chambord, Amboise, Blois and Château du Clos Luce. However we all said our favourite day out was the canoe trip down the river Cher under Château Chenonceau. Definitely worth doing that again!

“Having such interesting owners to talk to is an added joy”

Le Clos de Bel Air
We enjoyed our visit despite the floods coming the week before & diversions.
William & Diane are most friendly & welcoming, full of knowledge about the locality.
If anything it would be great if they wrote it down, distilled perhaps.
This might help orientate guests to shops/restaurants, etc. and act as an aide-memoire.

As everyone says the cottage & its surroundings are delightful.
Having such interesting owners to talk to is an added joy.

“Best family break so far!”
Reviewed 9 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

This place gave us a perfect antidote to the rush of modern life. It's a lovely place to stay, big, comfortable, gorgeous garden and a 15 min drive from Blois, and 20 mins from Chaumont Sur Loire (lovely chateau and gardens), 30ish mins from excellent zoo (Zooparc Beauval). About 7 mins. drive to supermarkets.
Our 3 and 5 yr old loved the garden (massive and fun), my parents who visited for a few nights had enough space for themselves and my wife and I felt like we really escaped - even though we spent most time just mooching around the gite.

Our first time in France with the kids and we were so grateful to Bill and Diane (owners) for looking after us in an area we didn't know. Their property is attached to the gite but the grounds are big so you're not on top of each other. We asked for local knowledge a fair bit and they kindly always made time for us when they were in.

The garden has swings, pool (unheated (brrrrr on days that aren't piping) but great fun) , lots of running space, a mini maze and it's enclosed. And a charcoal BBQ that we used most nights. It's a fabulous place to just sit, eat and let the kids mill around.

If you like running the side roads are quiet enough to run on and the air quality is great.

Negatives are v. minor;
1. wifi reception in the house not great (Bill - you need a booster) but fine outside.
2. you're about a 40 min. walk from Cormeray - too far for the kids.

Thanks both, hope to see you next year!

“Excellent stay”
Reviewed 11 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

I booked le clos de bel air for a trip to stay with a group of friends (6 of us in total), and we all loved Le Clos de Bel Air. Diane and William were excellent hosts, both in giving us advice on places to visit, wine to taste and cycling routes. the BBQ, pool and terraced area were where we spent most of our times and enjoyed the cool evenings on the terrace sampling the local wine. I would recommend hiring bikes in Cour-Cheverny to really explore the area.
I would certainly return if I was in the area again
Thanks Diane and William

“Gite & owners both - perfection”
Reviewed 4 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

An excellent location for exploring the Loire & its chateaux; the gite has been beautifully done up & we both found it attractive, clean & comfortable. Bill & Diane were wonderful hosts & by the end of the week, seemed like old friends to us. A delightful final evening, sitting out by the rose garden & chatting over a bottle of wine; not something we have found on all our holiday stops. They do try hard to be helpful, without being intrusive.
Lots of the best chateaux are in easy driving distance, but the nearest is Cheverney & we thought that was about the best. Bill recommended the Auberge de Centre in the next village for a meal out & we had one of our most memorable meals there. It is not the cheapest restaurant in the area, but the food is outstanding, in our opinion. A word of caution - out satnav had trouble with the coordinates & insisted the house was .2 miles further down the road

“Exceeded our wildest expectations”
Reviewed 19 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

We needed to get completely away and wanted hassle-free cycling and sightseeing as well as staying somewhere which was, frankly, a bit above the norm in comfort with plenty of space. Well, if we had to create Le Clos de Bel Air from our imagination we could not have done better. The location was absolutely in the heart of the region around Blois and whether you wanted to cycle a little or alot, attractions were plenty.

As for Le Clos de Bel Air itself, the gite is several workers' cottages brought together imaginatively next to a very nice house. Everything was generous, spacious and very comfortable and all in the best condition. What was an added delight were the hosts who were exceptionally helpful without being intrusive. We were particularly pleased to have had direct contact with the owners in prelude to arriving who provided us with various helpful suggestions and directions.

Then, when we arrived, we were greeted with fresh bread, butter, jam and a bottle of local (delicious) wine.

Le Clos de Bel Air merits the highest accolade and we happily award it!

“Spacious and comfortable”
Reviewed 16 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

This is a spotlessly clean, comfortable and well appointed gite located just to the south of Blois. The hosts, William and Diane, are charming and very helpful. The groceries and wine on arrival were very much appreciated after a long journey. There is plenty to see and visit in the area. The local chateau in Cheverny is well worth a visit as is that in Valencay. We enjoyed them both as they were self guided and not too large, there is only so much Louis XVI furniture that one can admire before needing a glass of wine! Speaking of wine Cheverny has an excellent tasting centre featuring local wine, the Cour-Cheverny made with the local romorantin grape is very pleasant as are many of the other local wines; so much wine so little time. There are numerous good places to eat locally, ranging from crepes to a gourmet offering. There are supermarkets and shops within a few miles for almost every need. Wifi is available but the connection can be a bit hit and miss. William and Diane have a fund of local knowledge and offer a pleasant, ,comfortable, quiet place to stay. Thank you.
