We loved this place. Basic but sufficient chalets; fantastic location surrounded by woods with serenity of the lake; great walks and small villages to explore (and their markets and food of course.....); lots of activities to do nearby eg Lake to swim at; walk with pull along ferry; velo rail and go ape at Bussiere galant; caves with prehistoric paintings and amazing structures. Our main problem was deciding whether to enjoy La Ferme du Lac or venture out. Peta was an excellent host and good cook. She sorted out a different chalet for us because she felt our planned one was surrounded by wet ground (being Scottish this did not faze us but nice intention!) and went out of her way to make our stay special. Kids made welcome; but good adult space as well. We would revisit if in the area again.

A superb B & B located in lovely, tranquil surroundings.
The rooms were clean and well appointed, and hosts Peta and Steve were charming and extremely helpful - nothing was too much trouble. We had an 'al fresco' evening meal on two occasions, excellent food and most enjoyable company.
There are lots of different things to do and see in the area, from lakeside beaches to chateaux visits, and from bustling markets (like Pieugut) to picturesque 'towns' (like Brantome). A visit to Oradour sur Glanes is an emotional experience, but very interesting.
We have already recommended La Ferme du Lac to a number of our friends, and intend to visit again in the not too distant future.
John & Tass.

Room Tip: Just tell Peta and Steve what you want, and they will recommend the best room for you.

Cottage 2 was even better than we hoped for. Secluded, comfortable, with a fantastic view over the lake. A beautiful place to relax and unwind. Steve and Peta are excellent hosts and there are plenty of things to do in the area: a footpath runs past the site, Piegut market on Wednesdays, the Grotte de Villars has some some amazing stallectites and mites and canoeing from Brantome was a fantastic way to spend an afternnon. We would definitely visit again. Esther and Chris x

La Ferme Du Lac was the second overnight stop on our motorcycle ride to Spain, from the UK. We had ridden for two days in heavy rain and were thinking “We should have brought a boat, not a bike" Well, we left the motorway and there was about 25 miles of countryside to ride through to get to the hotel and despite the weather, it was great. Nothing but spectacular views, pretty little hamlets, a very welcome sight after riding all day on wet motorways. We arrived at La Ferme Du Lac and can't say how fantastic the place looked, a beautiful main building, huge lake.... idyllic.
Peta & Steve had heard us arrive and came out to welcome us, along with Wolfie, the hotel guard dog, who is just a big softie, he’ll bark when you first arrive but could not be friendlier.
Steve told us we could put the bike in the barn to keep it out of the lovely weather we were getting!! While Peta put the kettle on and made us a nice cup of tea, they were both so friendly and welcoming, we couldn’t have wished for a better welcome.
We had booked a B & B room & the room was fantastic, beautifully decorated and with all the facilities you need and more, spotlessly clean & due to the location, as peaceful as can be.
There are self catering cabins available, which we did have a look into and have already decided to go back and stay for a week or two.
We had an evening meal in the restaurant and the food was fantastic and, traditional French style.
We got up to a super breakfast before leaving on the next leg of our ride to Spain and, although it would mean we were on our way home at the end of our holiday, we were looking forward to returning to La Ferme Du Lac on our return trip.
The weather on our return trip was much better and our welcome back to La Ferme Du Lac as warm as could be.
If you are ever in the Limoges area, make a point of staying at La Ferme Du Lac, you will not regret it.

Room Tip: There are B&B rooms and self catering cabins, all are great.
