We stayed at the Chateau on our way back to the Channel Tunnel and it was a memorable conclusion to our holiday. We were made immediately welcome by Norbert and shown to our suite which had a living room, a huge bedroom and separate ensuite and toilet with modern fittings. Once settled in, we were offered pre-dinner drinks before a nice meal prepared by the family and accompanied by a choice of wine. All in all a memorable experience in a genuine chateau.

Room Tip: We had the Opale Suite which is huge and runs from the front to the back of the building.

We have just returned from a weekend break at the Chateau and yet again Norbert, Christine and Hubert proved to be excellent company with Norbert providing some delicious meals. This time we took our granddaughter with us on her first visit to the Chateau and she was made to feel extremely welcome. She loved the animals, especially Frou Frou (the donkey) and the miniature foals.

As a couple, we have been staying at the Chateau since 2001/02 and normally visit at least 3 times a year. We are always made to feel welcome and love exploring the area.

If you book either an overnight stop or a longer stay at the Chateau de Behen you will not be disappointed. Don't be surprised if you find that you want to come back!!

We stayed here at the beginning of a week's road trip down through France - Chateau de Behen is only a couple of hours from Calais. We are a family of 4 and stayed in the Saphyr suite - 2 bedrooms (the main one has a sitting area too). The chateau is a beautiful old building and set in beautiful grounds. There are animals galore for the children to go and explore - miniature horses, full size horses (you can horseride too), swans, etc etc. Norbert is the host and what a wonderful character - as other reviewers have said he really makes the place. He cooked a beautiful dinner that we ate by candlelight. He did a more simple 3 course meal for the children (they loved it which is a miracle!) and a wonderful meal for us with some lovely wine. You need to book dinner in advance.
Breakfast is at whatever time you tell Norbert you want it - again really enjoyable!

You really feel like you are experiencing rural France at its best - would thoroughly recommend staying here.

Room Tip: The Saphyr suite is perfect for a family of 4.

Stayed here for 2 nights with my girlfriend as we kicked off our tour of France. My girlfriend booked this so I didn't really know what to expect, but what a pleasant surprise! In fact, my first thought when we pulled up was "can we really afford this?"

The Chateau is a stunning 18th century building set in the tiny village of Behen. The owner, Monsieur Cuvelier, owns six acres around the building, with little goats, shetland ponies, a donkey, swans, horses and lots of rabbits! It is a beautiful setting and a beautiful house.

The real highlight was Monsieur Cuvelier however. From the outset he was incredibly friendly and helpful, his English is fantastic, he seems to do almost everything from cooking dinner (a beautiful dinner!) to sorting the laundry. An incredibly charming, relaxed and accommodating man - UK B&B owners should take classes from this man!

Wonderful 2 days and I sincerely hope I will be back. Our only disappointment was that it was too hot and humid to go horse-riding, but as an animal-loving, tree-hugging veggie I wouldn't have wanted those poor horses to suffer!

Stop wasting time and book now!

ps. I should maybe add, the village is a little remote so don't be disappointed when you find there is no pub or restaurant to walk to at night.

A gem of a place to stay.
Lovely setting, beautiful characterful house and engaging and friendly owners.
The evening meal was generous, well cooked and enjoyable made all the better by the candelabras.
Certainly worth another visit.

Another trip to Chateau de Behen, this time a birthday present for me. Yes, I enjoyed it that much last time - and yes, it would be a welcome present again. We were in Emeraude on this visit, on the top floor. It was very quiet (if one ignores Vivaldi, the visiting donkey... whom I am assured is leaving once he has performed his duty, clearly eagerly awaited by Vivaldi. On the plus side, a visit this time next year should see a little donkey!) and beautifully decorated, once again with plenty of space for our daughter to have her own "room", even though this wasn't actually a suite.
The food I think is better than it was last year - desserts still excellent, and the main courses really good. Freya enjoyed the children's dinner for two nights, and then managed the "big" dinner on our final night there, with much patience from the family, who clearly enjoy having children around and are very patient and kind with them.
The riding remains excellent - truly wonderfully trained horses, far better than almost anywhere else where riding is open to the public. And, once again, Frou-Frou the (quiet) donkey was a huge hit with the younger children.

Had a wonderful weekend stay at Chateau Behen celebrating my fathers 80th Birthday. As always, Norbert, Hubert and Mark looked after us all very well and we shall be back shortly.
The Chateau was looking great and Norbert prepared a tasty dinner for the party.
