We spent our wedding annervisary at the Cliffemount Hotel in Runswick bay, there were seveal nice surprises, first the weather was great, this small hotel prides its self quite rightly on its attention to detail, the friendly staff do their best to make you welcome and comfortable.
We had bed, breakfast and evening meal and can vouch for the food, the lamb which we both had on the Thursday was exceptional. The room over looks the bay and the whole setting is very peaceful. There are plenty of places to visit round and about, Guisborough, Saltburn, Stokesley and of course Whitby.

Special attention to charity shop geeks, the three best shops ever with in fifty yards of each other are in Guisborough,, the age concern retro fit charity shop takes the top award but only just, great fun

Room Tip: if you want a room with a view try first floor

We have just returned from 3 days at this hotel and what a great time we have had. From the minute we arrived when we were greeted by the manager, Mark Sherlock, to when we left nothing was to much trouble. The staff were all as pleasant as Mark, the hotel has a great outlook, the food was amazing and we came back much heavier than when we arrived. The room had a lovely sea view and all we could hear was an occasional sea gull. other than that, perfect peace. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone, although not as cheap as some places, it lived up to and surpassed all our expectations.
Many thanks to all at the hotel

I surprised my husband for our wedding anniversary and wow we wasn't disappointed. The hotel is in an ideal location the view is stunning and the staff are so helpful and friendly. Mark is a top guy who was helpful throughout our stay. We stayed in room 5 we were able to timmy our little dog and he could stay in the hotel for a small extra charge. Timmy loved it here the fuss he got from staff and guests was great. The room didn't smell of dog was clean. We ate on both nights at the hotel and wasn't disappointed. Expect to take plenty of money its not your usual pub prices but worth it. There's no atm nearby so think ahead.
We will most defiantly return here

Having just spent May bank holiday weekend at the Cliffemount hotel I have to say, this is one of the best hotels I have stayed in, in the Uk. The staff were the most friendly and helpful people you could wish for. The beautiful view we had over the bay was awesome, the room was immaculate and everything we needed. Now the food, I have never had such excellent quality food in any Uk hotel, the presentation and service was first class. We had the five course taster meal on Saturday night, it was so good I did not want to finish it, and the morning I had scrambled duck eggs with fresh salmon blew me away, one of the things we were very impressed with was the hotel sources all the food locally and it is listed for you to see. Well done to all the staff, you are top of our list for recommendations and returning to. My husband and I work with the public every day and we all know how difficult it can be, but your staff made it look so easy. We will definitely be returning. Thank you for two fantastic nights.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony room overlooking the bay, I will be staying in room 2 next time, the view is amazi...

Had a voucher for 2 nights but was only able to stay one night due to prior commitments. Arrived at lunchtime & was met by Colin opening the door - excellent service. Room 4, standard room on first floor, had lovely view of Runswick Bay, & inland from other window. Not a massive room but there were chairs in front of the window to enjoy the view & it was nicely decorated & clean, with tea/coffee & biscuits. Shower room small but clean, & toiletries provided (soap smelt like lemon sherbet!), glass shelf above the sink made it hard to clean my teeth, my only criticism. Had two evening meals, both very good & well cooked, as was the breakfast. Lovely views of Runswick Bay from restaurant, even a rainbow! Staff all friendly & helpful.Would return, but only on a 'deal', couldn't afford the full price of £230 for 2 nights B&B.
Lovely place for a short break, walk on the Cleveland Way to Staithes one day & Sandsend the next. Also explore the narrow ginnels of the village, which mainly comprises holiday cottages, and, depending on the tide, walk along the beach & look for fossils.

Room Tip: Room 4 was double aspect with lovely view of the bay, icing on the cake would be a room with a balco...

We returned to the Cliffemount for our first wedding anniversary, having celebrated our Civil Partnership here, and the whole team was amazing! Everyone takes such good care of you, you never want for anything. The food was incredible (and sizeable - no complaints here!) as always, and three nights felt like three weeks, we were so relaxed. So many people mention it, but the views are incredible, and worth the cost of the room on their own. The rooms are furnished to a high standard, and everything about it is calming. Just being able to fill a bath in 30seconds for an amazing relaxing soak is worth it! We love the dressing gowns as well. It's a nice touch, and makes relaxing on the balcony with a glass of in the evening a little bit special. We will keep coming back, because you never fail to meet our expectations. I don't know how more people haven't found you, but you are an absolute diamond in the rough!

Room Tip: Always go for a balcony room if you can, although Topmans gives a good view too. The food is phenome...

Just wanted to say a big thank you to Mark, Chef and all at the Cliffemount Hotel. We both were very surprised at the quality of the hotel, food and of the staff's attentiveness. The rooms are tastefully decorated and of a good size. The food is outstanding and well worth the price (which is not expensive) and the views from the hotel are to die for even on a cold wet, very windy day. Shall definitely be staying here again.
