“Excellent food”

Had a great two night stay here this week. Very good location, close to other places of interest which are easily accessible by walking, driving or local bus. Booked a room for two with on suite. Decent accommodation that had everything needed. Was clean and well presented. Ate in the restauratant on both evenings and the food was excellent, as were the breakfasts.

Was disappointed. The menu had changed from last time I visited, not the same range of choices. It was overpriced for what we had. It looked like the place was being renovated but even so it seems to have lost a lot of its charm
+ atmosphere, which is a shame. The staff were friendly enough though.

Room Tip: I didn't stay, just visited for a meal.

Took my mum for dinner , too hot to cook. Lovely greeting on arrival ordered pint larger shandy for me and a large red wine n lemonade for mum took our drinks and choose what we fancied to eat there was a menu and specials board both had plenty of choice.
I asked for a prawn salad as it was to hot for cooked food and mum had a crap n prawn salad both were lovely and had a few new potatoes with them plates were cleared quickly when we had finished and the staff were fab, the only thing I was a bit disappointed with was the price £30.85 which I thought was a little high for two drinks and two salads

Sunday night in the Runswick Bay Hotel. We were told it was under new ownership so gave it a go. Still on going decorating but that's no problem. Had an excellent meal then in the bar for a few drinks, which was full of locals having a good night. We felt at ease and enjoyed the night. can not fault the staff, the landlord and the locals.will be going back soon. Been in other pubs locally but this one was best by far.

good place to stay on the walk. it is being redecorated but will take time. Nice friendly staff and owner, good beer, large hotel room.
breakfast was good, atmosphere was good, with a mix of locals and tourists. good to have a chat with some local people when visiting other parts of the country. one of the local blokes even went home and came back with some blister treatments for us!
only minor snag was asking for a rare steak and getting a very well done one - shame because it was a good steak. would definitely go again and expect that the redecoration will continue to improve the experience. keep up the good work!

Returned for a weekend break a year after our last visit. The place seems much more popular than previously with a busy bar and lots of meals being served. Food was good, the steaks being particularly impressive. Minor niggle- having to ask for and then wait for all the condiments, even the vinegar for fish and chips. Some rooms have obviously been refurbished and yes there are wires hanging from ceilings, but the rooms are of a good size and very comfortable.Another niggle- no spare toilet roll in room so had to find one in bar toilet. Breakfast good and plentiful.

I came with my family in a party of 16 as we were staying down in the bay, we were told there would be a wait which was fine as we were in no rush. When the good came it was very tasty with a lot of choice! The only problem was with the bill, we asked for it 3 times and ended up adding it up ourselves. But apart from that a nice meal out!
