“Lovely accommodation”
Reviewed 6 October 2013

Booked with laterooms and stayed here for one night (wish we could have stayed longer) to attend a wedding nearby. Attractive newly built single storey (no steps at all) accommodation around a very tranquil courtyard. This is at the rear of a very old pub which is directly opposite Samuel Coleridge's cottage hence the name! Huge car park which was a bonus because Lime Street was full of parked cars.
Lovely large, clean comfortable rooms and beds with all you could want including flat screen tv and personal temperature control and a large wet room with excellent shower and complimentary toiletries. Breakfast - cereals/toast followed by full English cooked to order included.
Very friendly family run place that positively welcomes children and dogs. There is a children's playroom in the pub and a small sandpit outside and toys/objects were dotted throughout. The owners' children were introduced and little Phoebe helped/chatted in the dining room at breakfast. This is definitely the place for you if you have children or dogs.
We wanted to order a taxi to collect us at midnight when the wedding finished and the owner offered to come and pick us up. Fantastic service! Thanks again Leigh.

Room Tip: All rooms are lovely and quiet.

Booked via Laterooms for a 1 night stay in Luxury Double Room, we booked as the website was very friendly for dogs and we were not disappointed. Our Golden Retriever was offered treats and a bowl of water upon arrival and our room was very spacious so he had plenty of space with us. Although dogs are welcome the rooms are very clean, you would never know any dogs stayed. Our room was lovely with a queen sized comfy bed, it was clean and decor was done very well. The bathroom was excellent with a walk in wet room style, great shower. We had a meal with drinks in the bar and breakfast in the morning, all food was very good, all freshly cooked, its not fancy but tastes great. The family who run the pub are a very friendly family and down to earth people. We would recommend this stay and look forward to revisiting next time with are in Somerset.

We booked this at short notice based on location. It is close to several National Trust properties (in fact one is just opposite from where we stayed).
Everyone was incredibly friendly, including the other guests. We had dinner in the pub, located at the front of the premises, on both nights. Only one of our children came with us, but he enjoyed the company of the owners children.
This made dinner easier as we could eat in peace as he was occupied with playing with others. The stay was short but incredibly relaxing. Meeting some of the locals in the evening added to the experience. This is the first B&B we have stayed at where we would definitely come back again.

Room Tip: Large family rooms available, would be very comfortable for a family of four.

Booked via Late Rooms on Thursday 15th August after checking out of a place I wont mention nearby that we weren't impressed with. Everywhere around wants £150 a night for a 4 person family room in peak season, but saying that, this part of Somerset is so beautiful it might actually be worth it!

Anyhow, we got it for £80 and to be honest I was fearing the worst due to the massive price difference from other local places. How wrong was I? A beautiful small complex of newly built single story accommodation with luxury queen sized bed for mummy and I, and separate room with 2 singles for my 5 and 7 yo girls. On top of this free wifi and a giant sized wet room! Complimentary bottles of chilled mineral water in the room when we arrived didn't go a miss either on a sticky day.

Going into the pub was like stepping back in time. Wonderfully set out and very welcoming but with a children/toddlers/games room where my girls played endlessly with Phoebe, the resident 7 yo.

The village is absolutely beautiful with lots of good walks nearby. The old shop keeper was such a nice fella. I bought a bottle of wine and he said old on matey, I have the same one on offer for £1.30 less in the car. (Don't ask).

In the evening the wife and I shared a platter that was beautiful. The sausage was out of this world, and I could never say a bad word about someone that had made me flat mushroom and blue cheese to such perfection. My eldest had Cod chips and peas. I have not tasted fish that nice this far from Whitby. It is on my list to have the next time I stay at the Ancient Mariners. I then chilled out a while with Leigh. Chef/manager/builder and a few more businesses to boot! A fantastic pint of Thatchers.

In the morning we over slept and missed breakfast... No problems said Leigh's in-laws. We'll make it!

In all a wonderful mini break. Will be back.

Room Tip: All are perfect.

Overnight stay following a trip to Bridport to collect furniture. Husband booked through late rooms for £46.00 for luxury double suite inc continental breakfast. Huge car park and newly built accommodation block at rear of very old inn that is opposite the home of Samuel Coleridge...hence the name. We were warmly greeted by Leigh who showed us to our room and made us very welcome. Room was large and airy with all mod cons huge wet room with complimentary toiletries and the bed was queen size!
We ate in the pub and although reasonable in price it was just pub fare. We spent a pleasant evening chatting weith another couple of guests and our host Leigh in the bar and then retired to a comfortable nights sleep. We upgraded to a full english breakfast and Leigh served while his wife Jen cooked, we were accompanied in the breakfast room by 8month old Harry and 4 year old Chloe, 2 of the hosts 3 children. Like I said, it's a family run place and if you object to the little ones and some toys then probably not for you. Breakfadt was great, hot and good portions. Jen checked us out and was conviviality at it's best. All in all a pleasant stay and IT would go back again.
