The Beach Boutique House
Ranked #43 of 55 Hotels in Kata Beach
Reviewed 8 May 2014 via mobile

Two couples that stayed here late April 2014. We stayed in Chaba Hotel across the road and wanted to extend our stay, but they were full. We initially booked the cheaper rooms at The Beach Boutique Hotel, but they were full and we were upgraded to the new wing. These rooms are awesome! Do yourself a favor and stay in the new wing. Brand new, clean and with great decor. We could barely hear the construction going on around the corner. The staff at this hotel are very professional and friendly. The location of the hotel is perfect. Away from the main road in Kata, but walking distance from the beach. There is a night market across the road from the hotel, twice a week. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to anyone.

The hotel is under reconstruction - it doesen't say on the HomePage, it doesen't say when you make your reservation. 12 hours of reconstruction work a day, where it is impossible to be in your room. You cannot use the pool.
No real compensation is offered.

On the positive side:

1) The hotel (and the pedestrianised area it is in) will be lovely when it is completed
2) The staff did their best
3) Breakfast was better than expected given the other reviews here (as long as you can tune out the dreadful music and avoid the tea/coffee) - juice, eggs, bacon, beans, pancakes, yoghurt, fruit, noodles, breads and pastries....
4) Free wifi in every room and in the lobby/common areas

However:

1) It is all still VERY MUCH under construction - axle grinding throughout the day starting at 7am, incl weekends, and scaffolding and workmen everywhere. The pool in the main hotel doesn't yet exist - it's round the corner in another building - and everywhere is still being built

2) The staff are friendly and do their best - they moved us to a different set of rooms in another building (still noisy and with views of the construction - but not immediately in the middle of it all). But the hotel is not set up for good customer service (eg: the "shuttle" to the beach has to be booked 24 hours in advance and is once a day at 10am) and only one of the girls at reception seems able to achieve anything (and is consequently very very busy).

3) There was a rat swimming in the pool (nesting behind the filter) - see pictures

4) The rooms are clean and functional - but very tired/unfinished (not sure which). For example, the wood in the bathroom is warped and swollen, leaving a grotty impression, there are holes in the wall which imply missing fixtures, but not sure what they are.....

Definitely NOT a luxury location for the trip of a lifetime. We were there in a mini break so it was fine - a couple of days only - but be warned.

The hotel itself is about 400m from the beach - a short walk down the high street and then down a very smelly canal. A bit grim but OK - this is Thailand! But I wouldn't want to do it at night - the town is fine but the canal is a bit isolated.

Room Tip: Go to the studios - 2 x joining rooms - much quieter building and in the same block as the pool.

I stay there for 2 days with my friend. It's only 3min walk to the beach, and Kata beach is very nice....compare to Patong (which very crowded n dirty)
The room is very clean, and big (we get 221) dont know about other room. It has 2 bed, 1 king size other single. I think it can fit 3-5 people. The furniture and decoration is simple and sweet.
Free wifi with good connection.
And it's only about THB 1.798 for 2nights.

• The staff are accommodating, friendly and they will try their best to interact with you and help you if you have concerns even though some only speak limited English. You just have to be patient and just match your conversation with some actions. You'll get by. :)

• Very good service!

• The room and food prices are affordable.

• Clean surroundings.

• Honest staff (housekeeping). Even though I have left my mobile phones for a couple of tines lying around, when I came back they were still there where I left them.

I will surely check-in again here for my next trip to Phuket and also recommend it to friends. Keep up the good work and improve in the flaws.
