My wife and I have just returned from a 2 week holiday in Phuket. We have been holidaying in Phuket for around 15 years and this was about our 15th visit. We have previously stayed in different hotels and other accommodation in and around Patong and Nai Han. On this occasion we decided to stay at The Kata Beach Resort and Spa at Kata Beach. We have often seen this hotel and decided to stay there on this occasion. The main reason was its close proximity to the beach, shops and restaurants and because it is within easy reach of Patong, Central Shopping Centre, Lotus Shopping Centre and Nai Han and Rawai Beaches.
The hotels accommodation, breakfast, restaurants, beach, location and facilities are excellent and as good as any we have stayed at previously.
The stand out for us was the friendliness of ALL the staff and their willingness to ensure that our stay was enjoyable. All our requests were attended to immediately.
A special thankyou to the General Manager Mr Andrew Swatdipakdi who greets guests individually and makes you feel welcome.
I highly recommend the Kata Beach Resort and Spa as a true value for money location.

Room Tip: We had a deluxe room with a balcony view over the pool and ocean.

me and my boyfriend stayed there for 7 nights after staying in Bangkok for 2 nights as well.
the hotel was beautiful facilities were very good. doubt there was much to do if it rained but we never had to worry about that when we went from the 10th oct to 18th oct. food was pretty good, we payed for half board although would of been better only getting b&b as we ate out in the evenings a lot aswell. beach is very pretty, not much snorkeling opportunities but plenty of other things to do. if you stay here we recommend one bar which is just outside the hotel called the surf house i think which has some kind of simulator there as well which is great fun and have to do. As a whole the hotel was perfect and are def looking to be returning again shortly.

Room Tip: swim up pool rooms are very nice but not sure if they are worth the extra money as all of the rooms are lovely.

My husband and I stayed at Kata Beach Resort and Spa for six nights during September in a private pool room.
Due to the main pool being re-grouted at the time, we were given three nights worth of coupons for free buffet dinner for the both of us, and a complimentary voucher for two hours each in the spa, was a very nice gesture considering we had no intentions of using the main pool.

The staff were always helpful, spoke good english, and always offered the kindest service at all times.

The grounds are gorgeous, beautiful main lobby, very open, comfortable, an intimate feel yet surprisingly large, the lobby flows out to the lush green and manicured gardens, pools, outside dining and then steps down to the white sand, overlooking the water and the island in the distance. Perfect at sunset!

The private pool room was adequate, a little above standard size, inside decor is nice, and comfortable. We were wanting something that was a little bit more 'up-market' than the standard room, something nice and romantic, but without the big price tag. This room ticked the box. The private pool area is nice, although could do with some maintenance, also not very private as the pool is connected, rooms are at an angel so if you and your neighbours are outside at the same time you are totally exposed to one another.
This was not an issue for us, however, it was something we noticed.
Air conditioning was fantastic, very efficient.
Every day we were supplied with complimentary drinking water, had access to a kettle, tea, coffee, sugar etc. There was also a safe in the room.

There appears to be a few feral cats walking the area, one evening we saw one stroll in through the dining areas doors and sprayed on a piece of furniture. Also there appeared to be a litter of feral kittens living in the garden area of the private pools.

The buffet food is okay, we ate every morning and most nights at the hotel and were satisfied.
During the week there was not much variety, and as it goes with buffets, the food was not as hot as recommended. During our time in Phuket we were not sick at all (piece of mind maybe?)

Across the road is a 7/11 we frequented there during our stay, there are plenty of shops across from the hotel as well, selling random fake tshirts, shoes, bags, clothes, toys, everything.
There was a genuine surf store next door, and a great 'surf bar' across the road.
Its one of those wave pools, you pay about 1000baht for 60mins to surf.
We went one night, it was good fun, my partner loved it, and I loved having a laugh watching him fall off :P Good music, good atmosphere, definitely worth a visit. Family friendly too!

Kata beach itself was great, laid back, relaxed, yet more than plenty to do and see.
Most definitely couples and family friendly, dont bother if you're looking to party, Kata is not rowdy or loud, not much of a party scene at all.

There is however a great bar on the water to the left of the hotel called The Ska Bar, it sits at the end of the beach under a great big Byann tree.
It has a great relaxed, friendly vibe to it and highly recommend visiting if even for only one drink, it will be worth it.
We sat and watched the water come in over the rocks and sands, enjoyed the lanterns in the trees and just simply took it all in.

If visiting Phuket, and looking for a relaxing get away close enough to commute the action, Kata Beach Spa Resort is what your looking for.

We had the pleasure of a four days lazy stay / four days of doing absolutely nothing but enjoying the beach. Unlike our usual routine, we decided predominately to stay at the hotel and only to go outside for dinner. The beach is okay but the town have turned into somewhat a massive tourist area/industry (read; excessive prices for dinner, low quality (European style cuisine), lousy service….). The hotel is acceptable – first time stayed here after the tsunami (2005), good sized rooms, well kept, helpful staff, reception ever so helpful, … so in other words, if you are looking for a beach holiday/time-out and nothing more than that, this is the place to visit.

Room Tip: Do not visit the restaurant Nathalie down town - crappy service, diluted beers, boring menu and overprices (poor quality food)!!!!
