Just returned from a 10 night stay at this resort. One of the rare absolute beachfront resorts in Kata. Best of both worlds with a large pool adjoining small shallow child's pool, but with the beach only steps away. Stayed with husband and two daughters 9 & 5. The rooms are average sized but bathrooms are quite small. Decor is traditional so don't expect modern or new, but all very clean.
We had a breathtaking view in a 4th floor room overlooking the pool and ocean.
Buffet breakfast is the standard for Thailand. Ranging from bacon and eggs, pastries, fruits, cereals etc to noodles, rice etc.
Hotel was beautifully set out with all pools, eating areas taking advantage of ocean view. Pool towels are provided. At the end of short driveway you are right on the Main Street with an array of shops, restaurants and frequently used 7/11 and P&P mart.
Our family had a great stay and overall were very happy with the Resort. From a family perspective it was quite limited in children's entertainment. The pool would be great with a slide or something of more interest for children and the kids club was a very bare, unappealing room on the 4th floor. As a result the girls got a bit bored even with friends and toys to amuse them.
We stayed at the Centara Karon last year and it was much better suited to children.
Overall if you love the beach and want to combine with having pools, this is the place for you. Location wise it wins hands down!
However in saying that I would consider staying here again.

Room Tip: Check where room is located as some look onto street and car park.

Location location location, that's about it, the beds were so hard my husband ended up being in a lot of pain( back pain)pillows the same. We love our breakfasts in Thailand, very ordinary. I know it must sound trivial but no one comes around with tea or coffee, you have to get your own, by that time breakie is cold. Needs a serious update

Beautiful hotel, perfect located for those that like peace and relax. Everything was perfect from greeting at the airport up to check out. Staff very nice and helpful, hotel spacious right on the beach!!! Rooms are big and have everything we need apart from mosquitoes :) LOVED IT!

The only little note: internet is available but a bit overpriced, best you buy a phone card for a length of stay you need and its cheap (5 days about 20USD) and use it as much as you need (you can connect all devices via smart phone).
Food: there is no room service or food after 11pm... so best get something before from outside as everything shuts 5min before 11pm .

The rest: lay back and just relax!!!

Room Tip: not a street view

My wife and I have just returned from a 2 week holiday in Phuket. We have been holidaying in Phuket for around 15 years and this was about our 15th visit. We have previously stayed in different hotels and other accommodation in and around Patong and Nai Han. On this occasion we decided to stay at The Kata Beach Resort and Spa at Kata Beach. We have often seen this hotel and decided to stay there on this occasion. The main reason was its close proximity to the beach, shops and restaurants and because it is within easy reach of Patong, Central Shopping Centre, Lotus Shopping Centre and Nai Han and Rawai Beaches.
The hotels accommodation, breakfast, restaurants, beach, location and facilities are excellent and as good as any we have stayed at previously.
The stand out for us was the friendliness of ALL the staff and their willingness to ensure that our stay was enjoyable. All our requests were attended to immediately.
A special thankyou to the General Manager Mr Andrew Swatdipakdi who greets guests individually and makes you feel welcome.
I highly recommend the Kata Beach Resort and Spa as a true value for money location.

Room Tip: We had a deluxe room with a balcony view over the pool and ocean.

me and my boyfriend stayed there for 7 nights after staying in Bangkok for 2 nights as well.
the hotel was beautiful facilities were very good. doubt there was much to do if it rained but we never had to worry about that when we went from the 10th oct to 18th oct. food was pretty good, we payed for half board although would of been better only getting b&b as we ate out in the evenings a lot aswell. beach is very pretty, not much snorkeling opportunities but plenty of other things to do. if you stay here we recommend one bar which is just outside the hotel called the surf house i think which has some kind of simulator there as well which is great fun and have to do. As a whole the hotel was perfect and are def looking to be returning again shortly.

Room Tip: swim up pool rooms are very nice but not sure if they are worth the extra money as all of the rooms are lovely.
