“Comfortable stay, excellent location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2014

Stayed for 7 nights in a deluxe seaview room. We arrived at night and were given a room on the ground floor. The room was really dim and some lights were not working so we called reception who sent over 2 really unfriendly housekeeping ladies. For some reason, the lights were working, only very dim and they were very annoyed at us. There was also a musty smell in the room.

Next morning, we requested a change of room and got one room on the 4th floor. It was splendid where we got views of the sea and beautiful sunset. We still had issues with unfriendly housekeepers where they cleaned our rooms only in the late afternoon... always after 3pm!! So, we finally informed the nice ladies at reception to request for earlier cleaning times. And, life was happier after that.

What we liked most:
- delicious buffet breakfast. Especially loved the special drinks: lemongrass, pandanus, besides the usual juices. Loved the egg counter and best crispy bacon in the world too.
- best security guard we have ever encountered. He is always cheerful and greeted us when we left and arrived at the hotel.
- friendly reception staff, always accommodating, helped us to deal with unfriendly housekeepers.
- seafood BBQ where the food was grilled upon order and all seafood were really fresh.
- nice swimming pool with deckchairs facing the sea.
- spendid location: right at the beach, with multiple restaurants nearby.
- taxi and bus service right outside the hotel. Took the public bus to Phuket town for 35 Baht per person. Excellent!
- pool towels in the room and will be changed to fresh ones by housekeeping. When we had issues with late housekeeping, we were able to get fresh towels at the pool from 5pm-6pm. Really nice idea!

Some inconveniences which we did not like:
- Unfriendly housekeepers.
- Small ants in the room.
- Hotel taxis who charged expensive rates: 1900 Baht quoted for trip to airport!! We went outside the hotel and the cost was 1200 Baht for trip to airport. We always used the taxi service outside the hotel, never using the hotel taxi service.
- Overall ventilation in the hotel where we could get smell of cooking in our room.
- Wifi only at the lobby. This is only a minor inconvenience because we are on vacation and who needs wifi in the rooms anyway. We could get Wifi in the hotel lobby, restaurants and massage centers.

Overall, we had an enjoyable stay and hope to be back soon.

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms facing the sea are the best. If the room door is near the lobby, we could receive the...

We recently holidayed at Kata Beach Resort with our 16 yr old son, booking 2 rooms a Grand Deluxe and Superiour Room. Both we were extremely happy with. They were clean, well maintained and with good air-conditioning.
This was our second stay in the past 2 years previously celebrating a milestone birthday with 20 other friends and both times everything has exceeded our expectations.
The pool area and close proximity to the local shopping and beach make it a perfect location for all to enjoy.
The staff a helpful and polite and we look forward to returning again next year.
The highlight of our stay is the happiest Guard in Thailand Mok, you are a credit to the Resort and made our days a little brighter.

If you are looking for value for money, great location, clean & fresh property then this is the place for you. Stayed here with friends in June 2014 for 14 days & would love to go back. It may not be the newest, biggest or the best. But it is a great place & does not deserve some of the negative feedback.
Give it a try you will love it.

Room Tip: Ask for higher floor in the middle overlooking the sea.

I had a superior room which was very nice, which was kept immaculately throughout my stay by the same lady everyday who was very friendly and cheerful. The restaraunt is very good and was pleased with the half board option, many of the meals where Ala Carte or cooked for you on the spot (steak/sea food kebabs etc) not buffet type food in the main. The staff where all very friendly and helpful and greeted you with a smile and a wave. Its a good location as it right on the beach ,just outside the hotel entrance is a 7/11 and all the other sorts of shops you would need. The hotel has its own taxi service really so very handy if you want to get about. The trips to James Bond and Phi Phi Island are very good. I would definitley stay at the resort again as its very nice and very clean.

Room Tip: I opted for a superior room with aircon which was large and very clean and well equipped . Most of t...

Nice hotel on the beach in the middle of Kata. Plenty of eateries, coffee and shopping nearby. Helpful, friendly staff. Fabulous buffet breakfast. Pool access rooms are just lovely. Two pools. Lovely well kept gardens. And the best guard in Thailand - thanks Mok for your friendly attentive service!

On arrival we had not got the room booked so requested a change. We had an argumentative lady at the reception who was not interested in assisting. We finally were told there was one room available and were told we must pay additional 1000 baht per night which we agreed reluctantly to even though it was still not what we had initially booked. The resort would be a quarter full at the most. Have had discussions with other guests who all have similar stories concering unfriendly front staff. This was our 3 rd visit and we were disappointed that the staffs attitde and friendliness has dropped considerably.

After reading other reviews I was kind of nervous about staying here. It is in a great location. Very close to great restaurants, massage, shops, etc. A plus for me was to be staying on the beach because so many other hotels located in this area are not right on the beach. The pool was very nice. The room not so great, we stayed in the deluxe seaview room. It was in need of renovations and whoever cleaned it left sand on the floor. I could feel it on my feet walking around the room immediately. When I booked, in our reservation it included a cold face towel at check in (never received) and a fruit basket. We never received the fruit basket so two days later, I asked at reception what happened. They couldn't understand what I was asking and it took another person and about 15 minutes later for them to figure out that we didn't receive a fruit basket. They did arrange to bring one to our room later. Free breakfast was included and it was always decent. Wifi - should be available in the rooms for free but is not unless you pay. Otherwise, you have to use in lobby and it only works at certain spots. Plus, that the lobby has tons of mosquitos and I was continuously bit up trying to use the wifi there. I am not sure that I would stay at this resort again. It was just OK.
