It's certainly a little strange to wake up in an Arabian palace themed villa in Phuket but the imagination and perhaps even contrariness of the owners is a welcome respite from the run of the mill resort.

A private pool comes with each villa - it's not particularly private as it's barely separated from the main villa pool. But as that is only accessed by the other 14 villa dwellers you often get the whole shared pool to yourself. Floating from waterfall feature at one end to the swim up bar at the other on your provided airbeds is not something you can do many resorts.

Well worth the extra money for the sheer space and eccentricity of the Baray Villas,.

Room Tip: Perhaps avoid the very end villas if you expect to spend any time on your sunbeds as those decks see...

My husband and I spent a night here in one of the Villa's as a wedding gift. We were married in Thailand the previous week. Upon arriving at the property we were absolutely blown away by the opulence of the villa. The standard of luxury was amazing. From the decor to the surroundings and the environment that is achieved by the villa's layout we couldnt have asked for a more perfect night.
The staff were wonderful. Very helpful and approachable. The seclusion of the villa's private pool and swim up bar was the perfect setting for a romantic couples night away.
I highly recommend this resort. Everything was wonderful.

Room Tip: If you can afford it and are after a luxury break - book one of the villa rooms.. worth every cent.!

Spent 7 nights in the villa and very much enjoyed our stay. Away from the crazy Patong beach, very special and unique atmosphere, opulent villa (so romantic!) with amazing pool, very friendly and helpful staff, fantastic dining experience ... what else does one need for a really relaxing and memorable holiday? Highly recommended!

Spent 4 nights at the Four Seasons in Bangkok then came to Baray Villas in Phuket. Had no idea what to expect and were really apprehensive. Our greeting by Aura and tour of the hotel, then an introduction to our room was an overwhelming experience. The villas are spectacular! Two floors of extravagance and fun. A pool in the living room, swimming out into your own private lagoon, a foot bath at the end of the oversized bed, wonderful linens. Really over the top. Staff is so helpful and kind. Cooking lesson was wonderful, spa massages fabulous, Thai food at the restaurant delicious. Walking distance to the beach but the hotel car will take you too. Can't say enough.

Room Tip: I think all the villas are the same.

Wow! The room decoration in the Baray Villa we stayed in was straight out of 1001 Arabian Nights! It's really romantic and arriving late at night made it even better.

Full marks to Aura who checked us in and gave us an induction to the resort, she is an excellent representative and I am convinced guests' experience of the place would be poorer without this calibre of staff. I stayed at more expensive resorts during my trip to Phuket that did not have staff as passionate and committed as Aura.

The private pool that is only accessible from the 14 villas is great and allows you to get away from the masses who congregate around the main pool. Because the whole site, which comprises the Sawasdee Village as well as the Baray Villas, is not too big the main pool can get crowded and hectic pretty quickly.

The resort is located very close to Kata Beach and only a 400/500 BHT ride from Patong and the weekend markets so getting around is quite doable.

The Thai food we had for room service was really delicious and comfortably surpassed the breakfast offering.

Also did the cooking class which was great fun, especially going to the market and getting to see the produce first hand.

The only thing I would note is the ground floor of the villa is highly polished concrete and rewards small steps, especially after a few drinks!

Room Tip: Baray Villa over one of the Sawasdee Village rooms every time if budget allows.

We stayed in one of the 14 Baray Villas, they are a delight to be in, service is very attentive and try to accommodate to every requirement, my only suggestion would be to have the staff improve their English, sometimes it was hard conveying our needs, especially through the phone. Food is very reasonable priced, but since we had breakfast included ( which is quite abundant and served in the room) and 1 dinner voucher per night, we had few opportunities to order much food, breakfast kept us full most of the day and had early dinners afterwards ;-) the access to the private pool of these villas is a very nice feature, and allowed late swims, although mosquitoes do bite and often make their way into the room, so repellent is very much needed.
Overall it's a very good place to stay, the decor, service and features make it a place to relax and enjoy with your spouse, we brought our 8 year old, but no other kids around and installations are for couples in mind. It's very romantic. Oh the spa is also a must!
