We stayed at the baray villa in sawasdee village after travelling around Thailand. What a beautiful way to finish our trip.

Normally when I write a review I have a few highlights in mind that I can discuss but with baray villa this is just so many that it's hard to know where to start.

The whole complex is like a palace. From the moment you walk through the exotic entrance you are transported to another world. Huge Arabic style walls and big royal doors just to get to your villa.

The Villa is outstanding! Two floors of beautiful decor and little treats. Two large flatscreens in living room and bedroom. Bath big enough to swim a few laps. Jacuzzi/pool from living room which accesses a pool that goes past all the villas. Pool shower and amazing rain shower in bedroom. Bed so big you'll have to use one of the many portable phones to talk to your partner on the other side.

Food is delicious here and breakfast can be had in both room and restaurant. The walk to the restaurant is gorgeous as you walk over water.

Personal assistant is a nice touch but to be honest we were only able to speak to her once as she seemed always busy. So we spoke to reception instead. A few difficulties arose when ordering food to our room, we ended up with more than we ordered, but that was fixed quickly and without any hassle.

Our stay here was perfect and no amount of words can describe how beautiful this place is. I could tell you more great things but nice to have some surprises ey!

I say this all the time..Book direct with the hotel. I always book with all hotels direct as they loose money through booking websites. Plus if you book direct most, if not all, hotels will reward you with extras. At baray you get something free every day for booking direct. We tried free spa for two which was amazing!! And free shuttle to airport. You'll always find it is no more expensive booking direct and sometimes even cheaper than the sites that say 30% off deal!! They're just scams.

Book if you haven't already and if you have I'm really jealous! Enjoy.

We spent 3 days at The Baray Villa, we travel extensively and this was a one of kind experience for us. The service was exemplary, the villa itself was perfect in all aspects and the location was perfect for us getting around Phuket easily. The staff was attentive without being intrusive not always and easy task for some personnel to pull off. We look forward to spending an extended period there in the future.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Capricorn suite, with its now private pool that opened into an AMAZING larger pool.

Opted for the 2 floor villa with private pool and it was definitely worth it. The villa was stunning, a combination of Thai and Arabic architecture, quite unusual. The resort itself is relatively small, but very green and well designed; it's absolutely beautifully lit at night, very romantic. If you don't like mass catered identikit hotel resorts then this will be perfect for you. The food was also very good in the Thai restaurant. Bit disappointed that the main bar area didn't seem to be open - so there actually wasn't any bar in the evening, and only the pool bar during the day. Obviously it isn't peak season so I can understand why - but it looked like a lovely area, would have been nice to use it. The staff are very helpful, attentive and well meaning... their English is not entirely fluent (although infinitely better than my Thai) - any requests sent by email were dealt with perfectly, but a little bit of to-ing and fro-ing was required for verbal communication. Do use the spa - fantastic treatments at reasonable prices and possibly the best massage I've ever had. I wouldn't necessarily return to Phuket - but I would highly recommend the Villas for anyone looking for something a little bit different.

Room Tip: Go for the Villa if you can. Definitely worth the extra money.

Great place to stay this, amazing architecture reminiscent of Arabian nights, not quite sure why they built it this way in Thailand, but it sures looks good, booked on the recommendation of our travel planner Andaman Sky who told us that if we were looking for something a bit different then this would be a good place to book, we had a great time, not one of those mass tourism concrete monoliths that I hate this, this is a small little place packed with features. The location is reasonable, but I don’t think I’ll revisit Phuket, as we didn’t like it much, the only thing I liked about our stay on Phuket was this hotel, tho’ my wife enjoyed the shopping too (I didn’t). Should have taken our travel agent’s advice and skipped Phuket. If you decide to go to Phuket though, this is the place to stay.

The first room we got has broken AC in the bedroom upstairs, the friendly staff tried to fix it but unfortunately this can not be done shortly so they told us to change to another villa, the new villa is situated near the swimming pool bar and not the middle section of the pool so we asked again for a change, the staff once again arranged it and this time we checked the new room before changing it.

The falling leafs in the swimming pool are constantly cleaned by the hotel stuff, thy also visit the villa twice a day (in addition to the cleaning) to open/close villa curtains (quite many curtains to be opened/closed).

They do have shuttle service to the Kata beach every hour during daytime so it makes life easier if one is tired of the pool and want to try something larger.

Room Tip: they are 7 villas on each side of the swimming pool, try to get some villa in the middle section and...

This was by far the most amazing hotel my wife and I have ever stayed at. The two major standouts were the physical hotel itself and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The rooms are absolutely out of this world. There is a pool that goes into your living room. The bed is enormous, comfortable, and the bathroom is luxurious. You are surrounded by trees and plants and you can't hear the bustle of kata beach at all... it feels like you are in the middle of nowhere. The décor lends a air of luxury to the entire place. It's all old thai style, and it just feels like you are royalty. The staff also treat you like royalty. They could not be more friendly or attentive to your needs. They bring you breakfast in bed at no extra charge. We checked out at 3pm (also no extra charge), but our flight wasn't until 3am, so they let us sit by the pool all day, and then nap in an air conditioned, incredibly decorated temple-like building until driving us to the airport. The atmosphere is just incredible. The spa was also amazing, and the food at the restaurant was great, too.

The only thing I could even think of improving would be the drinks- they weren't stellar.
