The staff are excellent. The rooms are divine, like stepping into an ancient palace hidden amongst a sculptured jungle with water features everywhere. Stepping in here, any noise disappears and is magical at night. The food is delicious.

My husband and I spend three nights at the Baray Villa and had an excellent time! The villa was gorgeous and very private. It was truly our own paradise. We also used the Spa...twice and it was AMAZING. Totally worth it. I would highly recommend this to any couple who is looking for a romantic getaway. The service is excellent and you will not be disappointed.

Stayed in a villa, which is really a house. Huge bed and Magnificent decor. The place is excellent. The gardens and pools are great and the staff really friendly, as are 99% of the Thai people.
Direct access into the pool via our jacuzzi and a private outdoor shower. Maid service twice a day, with bed turn down service. Would I change anything. Yes. The choice of food at breakfast is a bit limited but still good.
Would we return to this hotel again. Yes

Location is great. Rooms and villa are a dream. Can't believe some reviewers said negative things about this place, it's just perfect. The cooking classes are fun too. Highly recommended place for families or couples.

I'll try and make this short. Let me say that the decor and grounds are beautiful. Moroccan themed, beautiful furniture and layout of the villas, etc. We received a booking promotion where each night we stayed, we received a voucher. We used one for a massage (which was excellent), one for a free airport transfer, and one for a free dinner.

The dinner/breakfast area is a hot box. I've never sweated to death so much in my life. They try to keep the ceiling fans going, but we were miserable at dinner.

The AC of our villa was broken and we ended up sleeping on our couch downstairs all 3 nights. We told the front desk and they left a note on our door saying it was fixed, but it wasn't fixed. Thailand is one of the most humid places I've ever been, so you can imagine how miserable it was.

The hotel pool is tiny and barely gets any sun. There weren't enough lounge chairs for my husband and I to both get a spot. The lagoon pool for Baray Villa guests only is beautiful, but the personal/private pools are tiny. If you are a beach person like I am, I would suggest staying somewhere on the beach. There is zero beach view from this hotel. Yes the shuttle will take you to the beach, but you're a good 10 minutes from it. There is no work out facility at this place, either.

ADVICE: Taxi drives DO NOT know where this hotel is if you say "Baray Villas." We spent an hour trying to find a cab to take us back from Phuket town and no one knew where it was. I highly suggest bringing a hotel business card or map with you to tell the taxi drivers where you're trying to get back to.

This place is 45 min from the airport. I'd book a shuttle through the hotel or you can google and book with the Phuket Shuttle (we used them on the way back, very inexpensive).

We ended up switching hotels and going to a place with a beach view half way through our trip, and I'm glad we did. The people who work at Baray Villas were nice, the location is nice and tucked away from the busy streets, but overall we would not come back to this resort.

From the moment me and my wife left the sawasdee we had the holiday blues. We upgraded to the baray villa and it was worth every penny.
The villa was unbelievable and this was matched by the great service we received from all the staff around the place. Great food in the restaurant and good prices for hotel drinks and food in the day.

The staff could not help you enough and they are an asset to the hotel.
The holiday we had was one of the best and this was also own to this boutique well hidden property.

Thank so everyone there.

Before i start: I was in the Baray Villa in fall 2013. This means, I don't know about any changes since then. But for now, this are my points:

The Villa was big and nice! It was very comfortable with 2 floors and an amazing bedroom. You have a huge TV with a connected Mac. The bathroom was nice too, directly next to the bed, with Yakuzzi, shower and a huge mirror. The missing wall between the bedroom and the bathroom is a little bit unusual, but this shouldn't be a negative point here.

The pool starts already inside the villa. I was really looking forward to this according to the pictures i saw. Yet in real, it is not really good to use:

1. It was really cold
2. its not comfortable to sit there. The "pressing air" for the Yakuzzi flair was also not that good.

so we tried to use it, but we decided not to go with it.

The big pool for alle the Villas and the waterfall were the highlight. Again: It was nice, the water was cold but that is ok for a pool. The waterfall was impressive and the bar in the end of the Villas was fancy too. Nevertheless, it was not like in the pictures. The water had many fallen leaves inside, and the waterfall seemed to have had better years. It was already kind of broken at some points, and rusted as well.

The rest of the hotel was nice created. Everything was fitted into the theme of old fantasy egyptan kind of style. Yet, I was disappointed of the size. As the main pool is even smaller than the pool for the Villas, and the whole hotel was only a small area. here again, I was expecting more according to the pictures. Same is for the villa and the whole surroundings, which looks like it is already kind of old or broken.

The beach is not that close, but there is a free shuttle which takes you there quite fast.

Sum up:

Positive
+ Nice Idea & atmosphere & design.
+ Big villas with 2 floors, nice enterieur, small private swimming pool and big "private Villa swimming pool"
+ Waterfall at the swimming pool
+ Nice Poolbar for the Villas

Negative
- Location not directly at the beach
- Design looks old, rusty and not like in the pictures
- Small hotel area and small main pool
- Villa is also a little bit rusty and old at some points
(misleading pictures)

Result:
A nice hotel with its own flair, wanting to be a unique place. Unfortunately it looks to fake, also because of missing repairment and renewing of the design.
-

Room Tip: If you take a Villa, make sure to request the last one, directly next to the waterfall.
