The positives- location-at the good end of Kata beach- but you need to go down a very steep set of steps to get to and from the beach. Lots of restaurants very close by. The size of the studio rooms are very good and they are stocked with wine glasses, corkscrew, plates etc which you don't always get in a hotel room. One other positive of the hotel was the housekeeping- they kept our room very clean and the towels were really new and fluffy
Negatives- the pool is really shaded and cold. This means your option for cooling down is a very cold pool or going to the beach. If you are not a beach person for every day keep this in mind. No sun around the pool so you won;t be getting a tan there.
-Breakfast was clearly a cost saving attempt. For $270aud a night I expected more.Understand in a small complex that a buffet is not feesible, but the a la carte options should have been of a higher standard. This really irritated us after an 8 night stay because it was just being cheap and money grabbing on the part of the owner. See my review for Kata Villas where breakfast was excellent at $3 to see what I mean. Staying in upmarket villas and being offered breakfast options such as cornflakes, chicken sausages and basic sliced bread doesn't cut it. it wouldn't be hard to mix up a batch of bircher museli every morning and offer some nice breads- especially since the owner is swiss and a lot of europeans were staying there.
Frankly I felt that we were being gouged a lot of the time for food, drinks and the overall value.

Thanks dear guest for your opinion, and thanks too for try to be fair on it, saying the positives things and the things we must improve.

About the temperature of the pool, surprised us that you complain saying is too cold, remember is a non-roof swimming pool with many trees and natural plants around, in the South of a country like Thailand who usually have 30 *C, so all the guest like to have a fresh swim on it. Another option is go to the beach, that's true, just 16 steps down far from the villa, if some guest have mobility issues, just ask for help to our staff, or go out by the main entrance and do a 5 minutes walk to the beach.

Talking about the breakfast, I'm afraid your comment is so rude, because our rule is do everything as better as possible for make every guest feel comfortable and want to came back; if the breakfast wasn't good enough for you, just need to tell that to our service and they will talk to the kitchen staffs to prepare what you expect: the communication is the easiest and fastest way to we can make our guests happier.

Anyway, we appreciate the time you dedicated to write your opinion and we will take care it for improve in the future.

Best Regards.

We found Villa Elisabeth by chance during our Christmas vacations in Kata Beach. It's really charming and a lovely place to stay. We stayed three nights and enjoyed it very much. This small family run (Swiss/Thai) 'resort' is right on the Kata beach at the far end from Karon near the rocks and you can access the beach and the villas directly by the steps in the rocks. Really great for our two kids and for us as we liked to get up early and walk along the lovely Kata beach before breakfast. Breakfast on the terrace with lovely views over Kata Beach was a great way to start the day. Our villa (villa #2) was clean, well furnished with enough space for two adults and two kids, a terrace with a great sea view, multiple exotic plants and trees and was private and quiet. The staff are very friendly and the service quite good. The food in the Bella Vista restaurant was just ok but the terrace at night is lovely and worth the price (quite expensive for Thailand). There are plenty of shops and restaurants near by so you can choose where to eat or even cook in the villa. The WiFi is free but didn't work too great (our kids told us) but that's just a small thing (and I'm glad anyway). We also enjoyed the evening at the Ska Bar and restaurants down on the beach next to the villas although it can get a little noisy at night for some people (not us). It's not cheap to stay at the villas but the value for money it is good. We would definitely recommend Villa Elisabeth for the high quality, nice location, security and quietness whilst still close to the action on Kata. Enjoy.

Room Tip: Any of the 3 villas are great and # 2 has a good sea view. The 6 studios are all pretty good also.

Thank you very much for the good opinion you put in our place, is the wish of the owner and all our staff to make our guest be happy and enjoy the accommodation. True the wifi sometimes go slow, more when rain in Thailand, we talk about that many times with TOT, and we are expecting to have a stronger signal.

We loved our stay at Villa Elisabeth. Excellent Service, Homely and very welcoming. Restaurant is very good, again excellent service.
All rooms are large and spacious we stayed in 2 villas and 2 studios, we kept extending our stay as we loved it so much. But just got to pricey for us in the end so sadly had to leave.
I think we stayed about 7 nights.

Accommodation was good however there was some need for maintenance, and a bit of updating. All rooms are large and spacious we stayed in 2 villas and 2 studios, we kept extending our stay as we loved it so much. But
Some lights did not work in walkways, some of the grips on the stairs were missing. Pool lights not working and had algae issues (all things that are easily resolved) and some dodgy lamps that exploded when we turned them on, when moved to studio.
I would definitely recommend to stay here and hope that villas are more focused on.

Pros
Excellent service
Very good staff
Great Location
Very good standard of food!!
Amazing atmosphere in Restuarant
Excellent Breakfast
Nice atmosphere
Well layed out
Steps from the beach and hustle and bustle
But quite private and relaxing.
Large rooms with sea views.

Cons:

I think rooms need telephones gets annoying running down to restaurant if you need something.
Better quality toiletry products, shower gel etc
Some areas in the accommodation section need a bit of updating/maintenance.

Would definitely stay again for service alone, best I have received ever!!

Room Tip: Id like to try the beach front suite, looked nice with uninterrupted views. But Villas compared to t...

Dear Lukesyd,
thanks for your comment and your positive review, at the same time, thanks for be honest and let us your opinion about the age of the lamps. I would like to inform you we fixed already the problems of the electricity and we change the old lamps for a new ones, that´s the consecuence to have the resturant at just a few metres far from the beach, the salt of the sea make old the decoration faster.

We hope you have the opportunity to join us again.

My sister and I just returned from our trip to Phuket and, after extensive research on trip advisor, we chose Villa Elisabeth. We could not have picked a more perfect hotel. We stayed in the Thai House, Deluxe Sea View, room # 2 and it was a beautiful room with a fantastic view of Kata Beach. For the price, you cannot beat this hotel. Villa Elisabeth is right on the beach with easy access (the only other hotel on the beach is the Boathouse, which is at least double the cost of Villa Elisabeth and after seeing both, we preferred Villa Elisabeth). The restaurant overlooks the beach and we had a wonderful dinner watching the sunset. In addition, the included breakfast was fantastic (recommend the fried rice!). The staff was very helpful and arranged our pickup from the airport. I know how confusing it is trying to decide where to stay on Phuket, but I can honestly say that Villa Elisabeth will be #1 on my list when I return to Phuket.

Room Tip: Thai House, Deluxe Sea View, room # 2 is perfect!

Hello Windycity,
we appreciate very much in deep the very good review you wrotte about us, and we expect this opinion be a reason for the people who are on doubt about wich accommodation choose in Kata.
All you said is true, at Villa Elisabeth we do our best to make happy our guests, the location of the villa is just 16 steps far from the sand of the beach, at the end of Kata beach, and everyone can enjoy a wonderful view having breakfast, lunch or dinner from our restaurant, that´s why we called it "Bella Vista" (nice view).

Having just returned from staying at Villa Elisabeth I cannot honestly say it was great. It has 4 star pretentions with a 2/3 star delivery. Firstly, I have to say the service is very good, both room and restaurant - the Burmese and Thai staff are professional and well trained.
My room was no. 3 overlooking the beach which whilst sounding fine actual meant I was located next to Ska Bar which even in low season was a haven later at night for loud, chemically stimulated tourists.
The room whilst fine was 2,500 baht a day (2,900 inc tax) which in low season again is pushing things a bit - had it been brand new like the available villas/studios similarly priced perhaps acceptable. My fault should have done my research better. Plenty of mosquitos and one night killed a spider not far off the size of my hand - glad I spotted it before I went to sleep. Beds not comfortable, permanent musty smell and cheap pillows.
Room location just a bit too close to the main drag without the obvious presence of security - I never felt completely secure.

Room Tip: Chose away from beach front

Dear Stingaler,

thanks for the time used for writte your review, I have to tell you, that all the rooms and villa goes looking to the sea, someones to the sea directly, other ones to the swimming pool, but no one goes or is close to any street or avenue. There's a very small thai bar on the beach, they play reggae music but never high and until late. If there's some smell of humity is only when rain strong, because the rooms have wood closet and furniture (this happen in all Thailand).

If at any time any customer have some problem, just need to let know us, all our service are available at anytime to satisfy our guests.

Best regards.

The restaurant is simply delicious. The view is to die for. Highly recommend these villas over any resot. They accommodate you like kings and queens. No request is to difficult for them.

Room Tip: Villa 1 and 2 is the most amazing views

A small boutique accommodation sandwiched between a very loud beach bar area and a very large construction site.  It comprises of studios located at the 'busier' part of the property, villas towards the shoreline, and older rooms that over look an crowded beach.  Somewhat helpful, is that this place is located off the very busy main road in Kata which can be full of motorcycles, cars, and large trucks.

But, still not as quite as you might think; mainly because of the constant building construction, the overcrowding of Kata Beach, the proximity of beach bars, and the fireworks that go off sporadically after dark.

The taxi we took was only 600 baht, but we tipped the driver 100, because he  was able to maneuver through the traffic jams, yes, along the way.  It was one hour drive from the Phuket International Airport.

Hint:  When you leave the airport, turn right and look for the sign that says: TAXI  METER.  At the small building, tell them where you want to go, they tell you the cost, and then wait for the cab.  There are those unauthorized cab drivers who will take you, but do you want to take the risk and support this activity?  Besides, the cheapest was 1000 baht anyway.

Accommodations...
Pros:
- Very few guests, nice small feeling
- Clean, bright pool area
- Villas look very well-maintained with fresh paint and quaint too!
- Villas have roof-top decks with soft cushion couches and patio table/chairs
- Studios at the top level have high vaulted ceilings and have 2 a/c units
- Very well-maintained grounds, with the exception of the 'beach' area
- Attentive, cheerful staff with smiles - even at 7am
- Large shade trees and singing birds (Bella Vista's bird is annoying though)
- Private main deck overlooking Kata beach with loungers and tables (a good design plan, otherwise go join the others on the crowded beach with the boats!)

Cons:
- Beachside restaurants can be loud!  Seems like the crowds come up to eat and drink at the bars just located on the beach within 100 meters or so, so it can be loud until late.  Since the studios are located at the top of the hill, the noises carry up unfortunately.  Music, karaoke, drums begin their night beat right on schedule when you want to relax on your patio!
- A small access road directly behind the studios can be noisy too with motorbikes going up and down the small hill just outside the windows, and cement trucks from 7 until 10 pm!
- No real good beach on site at all.  Besides what some may say, there is really no beach, just some sand in-between rocks.  When the water is high, pthe 'beach' is gone completely and the cheap plastic chairs just left to float like trash on the water surface!  This part of Kata beach is a bit 'trashy, and condensed, but there are rocks to find fish, thankfully.
- No buffet breakfast, but the menu items are plenty unless you get tired of the same everyday!
- Missing deck loungers on the balconies of the studios, just hard, flat wooden chairs.
- No mosquito nets above the bed! (a must in the tropics!)

Left unsaid:
- loud beach bars, noisy until late! (you have been warned)
- sporadic very loud fireworks until late - try sleeping early, good luck
- large construction site just behind the property's studios - wakes you up with buzzing of saws, hammers, and cement trucks beginning at 6:30 am
- motorbike parking lot on the small road just outside your bedroom window with predictable morning motor noise from 7 to 8 am, folks going to work at construction site, go figure
- noisy boats as early as 8 am.

Studios are a distance from the shore with a very obstructed view of the ocean.  Villas have the better views, but it costs.  Villa 2 is best.  Whilst Villa 1 had the smell of a septic tank right next door!  Villa 3 located next to the pool.

Studio 4 overlooks the parking lot, entrance way and is closer to the noisy restaurants and bars, so I am not too sure why it gets all the great reviews unless it's so awesome inside.

We stayed in Studio 5 next door to 4, which is in the middle of the studios on the upper floor.  Obstructed view of the ocean, swimming pool below though.  These are basically good sized rooms with a small kitchen area which is open to the small living space.  Kitchen has cups, plates, utensils, pots and pans; thus, very convenient, but who's cooking on vaca?  The king bed is off to the side but is not enclosed.  Bathroom has walk-in shower, basic white towels, shampoo, etc.  No toothbrushes, but you can get most everything at the small store just 4 min walk down the hill and to the right on the main road.

I, personally, won't be returning to Phuket.  Cannot fault this property, though.  It's just gotten way too crowded since 2006.  Pattiya got too full, so travel agencies are promoting elsewhere. That's great for Thailand, but not for me since my goal is to get away from the crowds (Chinese and Russians).  (even the Chinese avoid Kata, Karon, or Patong anymore).  Advice: Go north or as far south as possible, these areas may still be remote enough from the Russian annual colonists.  Only the Thais can be so patient with some folks!

Yeah, it was a risk to stay even at this property.  Not a good choice.  Then, again, if you like parties along with the sun, go for it!  It seemed most guests just wanted a little more peace and quite, but are still wishing for it here.

BTW: bring your ear plugs to Russia's Cancun!

Dear LaoBlue,

thanks for take the time to write this, more than review, radiography of your feelings about us and Thailand. I can be agree about your description of our place and Phuket in a few things, but I must display that:

- Villa Elisabeth is at the end of Kata Beach, who is a wonderful family beach, full of sand, but like everything in this life, everything finish, so at the end of the beach starts the rocks, and note our place have exit directly to the sand of the beach.

- If there's some noise is because your trip was in the peak season where the occupation of the tourist areas is almost 100% busy; if you want to run away from population and people, don't go to a tourist destination, not in Thailand, not in other country, better choose some relaxing hut in the mountain, there are many travel agencies who offer this kind of destinations.

- Kata is a tourist area, but is open to the sea and big enough to offer to the tourist many option to do, if you felt stress for have contact with other tourist, better don't think even to put a feet in Patong, at 14 Km far from Kata, who is a really big concentration of traffic, hotels and people. Please don't give a wrong idea to other guest about this wonderful place.

- The small street behind our villa is the only way to go to the next villa, and there's no more buildings, so I'm afraid is not posible suffer the noise of a big traffic, and we are far away to the closest street 30 metres.

- If you felt bored to have the same variety of options in your breakfast (included in the price of the apartment), just need to talk with us, and we will find the way to satisfy you.

anyway, all the opinions of our guest, better or worse are welcome, we enjoy have good reviews, and we try to learn with the worse ones.

Best Regards.
