“hotel ok, but not as nice as in photos”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 April 2012

hotel is ok, but...
it is amazing what you can do with a good photographer and photoshop.

+ good value/money deal
+ in the center of kata beach (restaurants, bars etc..)
+ not as noisy as we thought

- no view
- far from beach
- rooms are not like in photos
- there's a pond in the backyard in the fotos... in reality it looks more like a swamp

The room is quite big, clean and very comfortable. And it's very cheap! I've been to Phuket several times and I always stay there. The staff are very friendly, they have a great service mind. They helped me a lot as i remember. The first time I've been there, I rode motorcycle to the viewpoint alone and on the way back down from the hill I found out that my back tire went flat... you know "on the hill" in the evening. In the middle of no where.... I had no choice so I had to call the hotel... T.T finally, they came and picked me up without charging any single baht. I was very impressed .. after that day I always stay there whenever I go to Phuket. :) The breakfast was okay and the area is very relax and a lot of restaurants and bar are near but you have to walk a bit or just rent a bike which you can ask from the reception. ^0^

For what you pay, they offer comfortable rooms and a good breakfast. You got your choice of eggs, fruit, bacon, rice, veggies, bread, pancakes, and juices. Room furnishings were good, with a small desk and stool, wardrobe, night stands.

The day time staff was very friendly. They had 4 computers in the lobby for internet and wifi in rooms. They have their own restaurant but there are plenty of other choices on the same street. At the end of the street is a walkway that goes to the beach. Watch out, the walk is stinky!

The hotel pools and grounds are beautiful. They have a bar and patio, and can eat lunch there or eat at your beach chair.

I checked out of a disappointing stay at Kata Orient House to stay here. Even though it was more than 50% more expensive, the high season walk-in rate of B 2,000 per night was still much better value than at the Kata Orient.

The Chaba is pretty new and modern, the staff are professional and helpful. They will book taxis for you at reasonable rates too (can be quite a chore in Phuket).

The free internet works fine in the rooms and no arguing about whether 1 or 2 people can use it per room. :) The rooms are small with no views but they are at least modern.

The swimming pool is large enough to swim in, and the buffet breakfast has a good choice of foods supplemented by requests if you are vegetarian.

What a find .Came across the Chaba last year, and decided to try it this year. From the time we checked in till the time we left , nothing was a problem or too much trouble for any of the staff. Booked a suite ,Room 412 which was well worth the price . Breakfast is included and is quite ample to set you up for a day. The pool and gardens are beautiful ,and well maintained ,and lovely to come back to after a day at the beach. Close enough to restaurants and bars to give you plenty of options for a night out ,and quiet enough to get a good nights sleep on your return. Will certainly be returning .

Room Tip: If you are staying for any length of time ,the studio suites with a balcony are really good

I booked a little late so most good places was fully booked. I stayed at block 4, room 422 for 3 nights just recently. room was a little dusty n shower a little leaky. im a fuss pot and diy guy so i mopped the room, cleaned the shower head, ceiling fan and aircon filter. some staff were polite some were not. i asked for an upgrade via e mail. this is a mistake. when i arrived, i was given the old chalet block that faces what is now a stink pool littered with debris and construction workers quarters just 20m from the room verandah. really sad for cause the pix in trip advisor is not updated for good reason. i asked for my original room type. some construction just next to the hotel.
buffet bfast above average but no replenishment towards the end. i travel a lot, all over the world so if bfast is till 1030am then full spread is expected till 10.30am. yes, i have high expectations. do not read further if this upsets you.
beach is near by but route is through a really stinky canal with a couple of drunk beggars....cheers brader. BTW, does this stinky water end up in the andaman???
i rented a car, avis is good for me, so i drove a lot, more than 500km and saw much better accomodation for less BUT not near any beach. road signs bad but thank god for GPS and google map. DO not miss SIAM NIRAMIT. i did and regret that i did not google earlier for cultural shows. this place is not advertised as much as the others on trip. orchid farm near by is 2000 per entry and not worth it unless u wanna buy some plants then entry should be free no??? i felt really sad for chained elephants so i did not ride them.... most things are over rated in my opinion, look for the beach, the road less travelled, and quiet sunsets with glenlivet. night life is interesting and old town is great for local food and shopping. a lot of language issues so have some sensible phrases ready. swadee ka.... i probably will not return to phuket DURING THE PEAK SEASON...

Room Tip: pick the rooms facing the garden and main pool. they are newer and have a nicer view. if cannot, go...

This is a budget hotel located between Kata and Karon beaches in Phuket. It is a good mid-range option in a somewhat overpriced area of Thailand. I arrived late at night and the man at the front desk didn't speak much English, so the experience might be different if I had checked in during the day.

The room itself was very clean, but very hot. And the a/c was quite poor so it took most of the night before it was cool enough for me to get a decent sleep. There is a tiny "minibar" in the room but since there is no power when you leave the room, nothing in there is very cold either. The bed was fine, if not a bit on the hard side. The wifi seems to only work in the lobby and not in the rooms (or not in my room anyway).

The included breakfast buffet was very good, and the restaurant where it is served is quite charming. The pools looked excellent and it is a short walk to the beaches. I thought Karon beach was the nicer of the two.

I booked one tour through the agency in the hotel, and it was decent enough and good value. But every other shop in town is a tour agency as well, so do shop around.

Room Tip: Pick a room near the lobby or pool and maybe the wifi will work.
